Nitpick my heat treat please

Ordered some ATP-641, should be here next week, I'm looking forward to trying that out.
Yet another question, does the ATP layer slow the quench at all? Or is it so thin that it really doesn't matter?
Thanks again for the info, I feel like a knowledge leech, I'll need to figure out a way to give back one day.
 
As far as I know, ATP does not slow the quench. Most instantly flakes off in the quench anyway, and 01 doe not require a fast quench, but rather a medium speed. One thing to consider is that once heated, you cannot allow the heat to lower very much, or the ATP flakes off, and the blade will need to be re-coated. In other words, You cannot do a stress relief and air cool without re-coating. I only coat for main event.
