Anyone have any info on the heat treatment of Aldos new Nitro V? It labels it as a beefed up AEBL. I think I'm going to go ahead and order some before its gone and do some test pieces.

I have some coming, and am looking forward to having it tested. I am wondering how nitrogen effects heat treat? I have heard that you can use the same heat treat regimen as for AEBL, that maybe leaving performance on the table though.

We've been following the same heat treat as AEB-L. We're getting it to 64/65 Rc after a plate quench from 1980 and dry ice. We leave it at 1980 for 5 minutes before quench.
The 1st blade we did we left in for 20 minutes at temp by mistake(to much bullshitting!) and we ended up with 56Rc before cryo, which kind of freaked us out. We through it in the ice for about a minute and it shot up to 63+Rc. We then proceeded to beat the crap out of it for 2 days. I think you guys are going to be pretty happy with what we ended up with.

Brad, over at Peter's Heat Treat will have a tempering schedule for us in a few days that we will post.

We have the Nitro-V in 3/32, 1/8, 5/32 and 3/16. We brought in the 1/8" and 5/32" first. The 3/32 and 3/16 will be here by weeks end. It should be up on the web site on Monday. Sooner if we can get a truck in right away.

dang, i should have waited! 3/32 is preferable to me, i kinda just assumed it would be awhile before other thickness was available!

I'll stay tuned for that tempering schedule, I got my chunk of NitroV in last week to try. Kitchen knives all the way!

I need to jump on this AEBL train, I always hear so many good things and now an upgraded version?!

I ordered a bunch of the .110" stock and am also excited to try it out. Anybody test it out yet?

Hey Aldo, any update on this? I would love to get a copy of the heat treat schedule... I have 8 feet of Nitro V and a few Chef knives ready to fire up in my forge!

I'd like to hear about the hardness and if you like 63 HRC or if performance is is left on th table and would like it higher

AEB-L is one of my favorites, I always thought it would be interesting with a touch of vanadium. Now here comes Nitro-V! Can't wait to get my hands on some.
