NJ Hiking

I pretty much solo out there myself.

Just let me know and I will send you a hardcopy map.

The best advice I can give is to start at Batsto visitor centor and hike North to Ongs Hat then turn around.

There are only 2 legit camping areas.

No Bears or bad critters to speak of, but the coyotes may keep you awake with the yelping.

If you wait too long, the ticks and chiggers will eat you alive, so get out there by Mothers day or so.

Have fun and be safe.

I think I'll go check it out this week and decide whether I want to do my long hike on the Appalachian or there. I've day hiked on the Appalachian before so I know what to expect there for the most part. Where would you suggest doing a day hike there?

Start at the Carranza memorial, hike to Apple pie hill fire tower and back.

Should take you 4 hours or so.

That will give you the best impression of the Pine Barrens.

Is there parking right next to the memorial so I can just look up directions to it and start right from there? I searched it and I think it says there is but I'm terrible with this internet stuff.
