:jerkit: The other day I went into a local NJ Sports Authority looking for a slingshot. Walk around can't find one, knives, guns: air, paintball, firearms, bows and arrows:confused:

So I ask an older guy working behind the fishing counter..."Hey, what's the deal?, where do you guys hide the slingshots?" He tells me, "SLINGSHOTS ILLEGAL IN THE STATE OF NJ" with a straight face:yawn: I said, "What? come on were are the slingshots?" He says, "I'm not kidding, we do not sell slingshots, and they are ILLEGAL to possess in the state of NJ"

I nearly peed my pants with laughter and told him they sold WAY more dangerous items in the store:jerkit: Go figure, you can own all kinds of deadly 'weapons' in NJ but not a friggin' slingshot!:jerkit: :jerkit: F' this state, they can kiss my a** I'm moving out of this :jerkit: state as fast as we can pack our truck!:thumbdn:

Ok, who's got a modern slingshot and why is your's the best rig out there? If you've made a nice one let's see it! I'm trying to teach some of the young guns around here what fun we used to have plinking cans with a slingshot when I was a farm kid:cool:

I'm a fan of Marksman myself..., a wrist brace model, pretty basic. As a kid we would shoot cheap marbles (100 for a buck), or rocks. Still keep one with extra bands and ammo.
We used to set targets on fence posts, some using bb guns and others slingshots. Lots of fun. Good memories.
Still available here in Ohio, even at big box stores.

that idiot doesn't know what he's talkin about. i just went and checked myelf. it qualifies as a concealed weapon if you don't have "an explainable, lawful purpose" for having one on you which would be pretty tough to sell a cop if you're searched. you can own and use them in nj.

I heard the same thing about my state which suprised me cause I carried a slingshot on my jaunts through the woods through out most of my adolescent life...upon further research (through this forum) I found that only slingshots with wrist braces are illegal other "regulr" slingshots are not I always preferred marksman slingshots but the only company that I found that will deliver to my state is trumark You might want to try them I haven't recieved mine yet but am looking forward to it.

Slingshots are legal to OWN, but are restricted as far as sale and carry are concerned.

Yes, you are right, NJ is run by gun grabbing Nazis who fear everything except taxes.

In most aspects this country is going to hell in a hand basket. Were going to need a permit to breath soon.

The sad fact is ther is just too many people in the world (does that sound weird)
the majority are "livers" (not the organ) but not survivors. they make the rules based on whats acceptable for other "livers" they think "who needs a dangerous slingshot, when there is a grocery store on every corner" THis is not to say that my way is better than thiers but I'll take the slingshot...or the rifle or whatever and bag it myself thanks...

I disagree, breathing will always be free and without restrictions. I do however feel that we will soon be taxed for the exhaled carbon dioxide we are inducing into the atmosphere.:D

i wanted to move to find a free state and my wife where would we go.

as i looked into other states the were getting less free also.

and she was right the US is losing freedom faster it the last 50 years than 150 years before.

if people want freedom they will have to do the work in this country first.

Reminds me of how I felt when, as a kid, someone told me peashooters were illegal. Huh?

haha. Yep. We're not carbon neutral beings are we? ;)

Try Vermont. I am not sure about other laws, but I know they are real relaxed on their gun rights.

Louisiana is pretty much wide open; shall issue ccw, minimal knife laws, class three a-ok. Only big downsides are mosquitos and hurricanes! :D

I wonder what my carbon footprint for breathing everyday is? :D

It's so glad to see other people that fall in-line with what I believe in.

Tracker you're not the only one that thinks NJ is a bunch of commies; I've a couple friends from there and they HATED it. I've heard some insane horror stories from the People's Republic of NJ.

Indiana's great. That's where I grew up and am moving back to. You're safe in the midwest for the most part. Except for Chicago and places like that. The Indiana constitution hasn't changed since giving women the right to vote and we've also had a stand your ground law since 1938. It's a great place to be but I've no idea how Bye got in congress :barf:

Almost forgot, gun laws only affect LEGAL gun owners or those who follow the law.

Former NJ resident here. Thank God I am in PA now.

Do you know that you have to get a pistol permit to buy and keep a BB gun in NJ?

A funny thing about gun control: The reason I have 2 AR15 rifles now instead of one is because I couldn't bring my preban AR15 into NJ and had to buy a postban one for NJ! Oh yea, I had to block my mags so it couldn't hold more than 15 rounds. So I bought as twice many mags as I actually wanted.

All the laws really prevent people from getting a gun at any street corner in Camden and Newark....NOT!

When I was a kid I got a slingshot along with my easter chocolate stuff. I found all these little slag balls along the train tracks and used them for ammo. I promptly proceeded to shoot out a large amount of the bitchy old women next doors greenhouse glass. Kind of like sling shot target shooting I guess. It took me a month to pay for the replacement glass with my paper route. :D From there I proceeded to blow everything to hell with firearms. I'm not real proud of it, but pretty much anything non human that walked ,crawled, flew or swam got blasted! I had a freaken arsenal as a teenager, everything from .22s, air rifles/pistol, British .303, a .410 and a few 12 gages, including a Remington 1100 semi auto (wish i hadn't sold that one) Hell I remember, as a teenager, standing on a bridge with a semi auto .22 shooting sucker fish in the creek. Pop/pop/pop/pop/pop, then suckers would be rolling down in the current buggered by concussion, if not a direct hit. And I do believe it all started with a sling shot. :D

Vermont may or may not have liberal gun laws, but the state is Extremely Politically corrent and environmentalist heavy. Do your reasearch before moving there. New Hampshire is better, but changing.

Vermont used to be a strongly Republican, conservative state until about 30 years ago foreigners from NYC and Boston moved in .It went downhill from there. They still have good gun laws ,you can own and carry handguns without permits !! They still make good Cheddar cheese and maple syrup too .
