I ordered ~20 feet of CPM154 from Aldo recently, adding a note that requested the steel be ground to .125 (as per instructions given several months earlier)
The bars arrived and measured at the standard .140-.156

No response from the office (email) when I asked if they still offered custom thicknesses (I need to know for my next order)

This is my first time ordering from him so I was wondering: has this happened to you? Is it a somewhat common occurrence?

UPDATE:

Finally, I have a new phone, so I called in to the office.
They were very helpful, very polite, and offered to regrind the steel to the correct thickness

call him hes a great guy if he dosnt pick up just ask for aldo great guy great service they have bin moving the shop and setting up a new grinder and waterjet!!!!!! so they bin busy

First step should always be to call the service provider. Discussing issues between you and the provider in a public forum before giving them the benefit of a call to work it out is unfair. I realize you made an effort to email him but give him some time. He's very busy. Also, he has some new guys in the shop filling orders. As has been mentioned, he has been moving the shop and he's been distracted.

I'm assuming it's a simple goof. I haven't had a huge amount of dealings with NJSB, but the ones I've had were confidence inspiring.

He seems to be a phone guy, not an email guy.
Kinda hard for us wired types to understand! :)
Sure is nice and helpful to talk to, though, once you reach him- sent me some really nice samples along with my last order, neat stuff. I'd just call.

Call him. Aldo sometimes takes a few days to reply to emails but hes awesome

Calling will be my next step. I've been hashing things out with a new cell company but once I have service again, that's the plan.

I have no doubt Aldo's a man of his word and would iron out mistakes -- my question was more in regard to timing. I've yet to plan much more than a week or two in advance so sometimes my deadlines can't be met when I need to exchange parts/material.

If he's in the process of moving/upgrading/training new hires, I completely understand where things could be overlooked.

Thanks for the info guys!

I was told by Peter Bruno that they're in the process of moving warehouses so it's been rather hectic for the last few weeks.

Each bar is ground flat and doesn't deviate, but the individual bars have thicknesses within that range
