I have a Ratweiler that looks like that after I stripped it. No bluing. Just paint stripper.

That Rat look nice! What exactly is that on the surface that looks so blue? Just decarb?
 
I think it's been suggested that it's a prep stage for the final coating. Makes it stick better or something. Details were lacking in the post I read.
 
. . . I found sealed under the paint . . . . A thin layer of surface rust bout 1 ½ inches sq on either side of the blade. Harmless I’m sure, but there nonetheless.

No need to panic gang!. . . The blades all receive an etch prep prior to coating. So, what appeared to be a thin layer of rust was, most likely, a bit of residue from this first prep step. :thumbup::D
