NMFBM or KILLA ZILLA?

Even though no one has been graced with having or holding the killa zilla, what are peoples thoughts? Will this new khukri blade design put the just out NMFBM in the dust or will the mistress prevail as the biggest baddest chopper?

Lets start the debate.

the zilla might chop better but i think its easier to baton with a strait blade and a little easier to carry maybe.

my NMFBM is gonna have to do 'cause i'm BROKE.no work.

Northern1, im with you, broke and no work. In the end, I still think the NMFBM will be on top for a few reasons. Being able to baton if needed is a big one for me.

I feel ya on the broke part, ive been looking for new full time work for months now, but yes the batoning is a big plus for the NMFBM.

The KZ will be a wholly different sort of cool.

It will be a very worthwhile knife to own ... but it won't replace the Battle Mistress.

I bought the NMFBM and absolutely love it. I think that the KZ will be a nice addition tho.
I hope you guys find work.

All I know is I want one. I have a FBMLE, so don't know about the NMFBMLE. With a full convex grind, though, I can tell you it has to be a chopping beast. The Zilla is going to be .275 if i remember correctly, with a saber to convex grind. I think it is going to be a chopping beast.

I think it will be partly dependent on exactly what kind of chopping you are doing. A thinner blade, and less blade heavy will make for easier limbing, and will still work great for chopping. The Zilla is going to weigh more than the NMFBM, and so will likely take more energy to swing, and more fatigue when doing chores that require you to check your swing.

I got my NMFBM last week, havent had a chance to break her in properly yet. However she came scary sharp. She makes the hairs jump and hide whenever i pull her out. I hope that i can get my hands on a zilla just for the pure fact that i love the khukri design.

Generally speaking, a kukri style blade will outchop a conventional blade of the same length, weight, and thickness. Edge geometry plays a big role as well. Some people just don't take to the kukri design, or want to put in the effort to learn to use them well. Same can be said of large knives (look at all the pooh-poohing they get in the WS&S forum).

That being said, even if the Killa outchops the NMFBM, it probably won't be by enough to throw out your Mistress.

The Zilla will more likely be an "I want one of those, too." rather than "I want one of those instead." blade.

I've used Khukris before and just never liked them, I don't like too much of a recurve on any blade I have never mind one that's the size of a well muscled chimps' arm. So for me the NMFBM, FBM and CGFBM will stillfight for my love at top spot.

Who knows though I may get my hands on another Hogs' Killa just for a play and fall in love with it but for the sake of my financial health I hope not.

After owning and using a bunch of HI's that are larger than my NMFBM I dont think the Hogzilla will replace it. I like my HI khukri's alot, but many times I like a strait edged blade like many said for splitting or other work.

I agree with Cpl Punishment, I believe that the Zilla will be another great chopper from Busse that people add too there collection and not get rid of the BM because of it.

I really want one in Res-C though, after using my Dogfathers, SOD and BR I would like to see an massive khukri in that.

Yes, as much as I hope the Zilla will be great...I definately know the NMFBM is....and won't be parting with mine....others in the herd may go....but eventually I am getting "there" as to what to keep....sometimes the only problem is "they are all good"!

We did get to hold the Zilla at Resinguy's lunch.
My guess is that it will be a better chopper, while the NMFBM is the better all around do it all big blade.

I like a Khukri in stiff grass, vines and non-woody stems like saw palmetto but for limbs and trees the NMFBMLE has shown superiority in wood removal. With a proper wrist snap the NMFBMLE can handle the other stuff just fine but you wouldn't want to be snappin' that big blade for too long, that last snap might involve a cast! A long, light khukri would be more than sufficient for brush clearing so a nice fat one would fill in on the hardwood removal too. Where is that film clip of the guy cutting off a water buffalo's head cleanly with one swing of a big khukri?

Even though no one has been graced with having or holding the killa zilla...

Not true...:D I can think of one well known member here that has handled the HOGZILLA, maybe he will chime in. I didn't spring for the NMFBM, I have too many BM's as it is, the HOGZILLA on the other hand... is a must IMO.:D

There is nothing light about the Busse version.
it's convex ground and .27 thick, felt heavier than an FFBM:eek::eek:

Yeah the zilla sounds like a monster, and for those of you that have had the chance to hold it all ready i {salute} you. Now ill go talk bad about you in my free time...JK.

i have to admit though.when your chopping the sweet spot on a khuk sure is sweet and bites deep.those cheaper CS khuks are quite thin and chop great.i'd actually like the ZILLA to be more on the thinner side although i'm sure there will be some thin LE version for twice as much as something i already cant afford.recessions suck ass.

and dont get me wrong.you can baton with a khuk just fine,i've done it plenty of times.i just prefer a strait, even blade.but again, that big,fat sweet spot sure is sweet.

all in all.i am dying and would rather have a scrapyard khuk of S7 steel with res-c handles and not just for financial reasons either all though it would help.time will tell.

lets not forget.there have been blades we have gotten crystal clear pics of {BUSS'MUK} that have yet to be released.lets see if this ZILLA even comes out anytime in the near future.jerry changes his mind quick.
