We've learned this will be a beefy, .3125" thick, 9.5" long, irresistible monster of a knife in my opinion. :D

Still ... I ask myself, how many of us will have the heart to use this satin-finished thing of beauty? Will we wait for the CG version before dinging up and scratching the darn thing? I know it's heresy to suggest that not all Busse knives get used, but this one is especially interesting in that we all want it, but it's no filet knife that we can use gently for small jobs. It's a big, heavy chopper, right? Too long for other purposes?

Also, how do you all see this knife comparing to a NMSFNO (.25" thick, 8" long) or FBM CG or LE (.25-.32" thick, 10" long)?

Seems like this is going to be a short chopper with a lot of punch. Little too big to be a jack of all trades knife although I'm sure she could get it done. and dang near indestructible, close to the ffbm.

Yes! I'll use it (if I am lucky enough to get one). It'll be used to maul any approaching zombies and the occasional log or two.

...Guess I'll know when I put her next to all the others...:D

I already have a Koster Monster Nessie in 3V, which fills the role of compact, heavy chopper. So unless someone can point out a compelling use for this that the MN won't manage, I think I'll have to save the $$$ for something else.

You dont need one.

I have way too many knives and I already have a lot of users in every size. For the sake of honesty, mine will be a dust collector-never to see the day of light.

I will use it in my circus knife throwing act, my sword swallowing routine, and knife juggling. I may take it to the woods and chop some stuff up as well.

If I can convince myself that paper micarta is a "go" on this one (hoped for G10), then I'm seriously thinking about pairing it with something smaller and putting the set into my primary BOB.

Appreciate the (mostly) honest responses. Apart from the occasional zombie mauling or knife juggling, would you all agree this knife is pure chopper, too long for eyebrow shaving and other fine tasks (like cutting up a big old steak)?

The closest thing to a chopper that I own is a NMSFNO (.25" thick, 8" blade). Do I need the NMFSH? Will it chop better ... or just wear me out? By the way, I'm a 6'7" 295 lb. bull wrestler (I mean 6', 175 lb regular guy).

Nah, you don't need it.
And it's probably to big for you.

I'll probably simply admire the LE and hope for a Comp model or CG for a user.

The NMFSH offering is basically a slightly shorter NM treated FBMLE for those who want one at factory pricing. The G10 coated version weighed 29oz at Blade, so a satin/black paper version should be at least 1oz lighter, possibly more, which puts it into the CGFBM weight territory sans CBT and coating. It's a great option for someone who doesn't have anything in that size and should be light enough to carry in a pack.

Since I already have an FBM LE user with magnum handles, I would buy and use the heck out of this NMFSH LE if I could get it with standard thickness scales for it to have the same grip as a CGFBM with mags, but I was told that isn't an option. 'Tis a shame. :(
