This was the third blade I've ground and I didn't really like much about it (too heavy and ugly) so when it came back from HT it just sat there. And sat there. I never could settle on what to do with it but finally I decided that I had to do something with that big hunk of steel. So, while I have a bunch of blades ground at this point this is only the seventh knife I've finished. It has a distal taper and is lighter than it looks. There was little I could do with the overall handle shape (it was too narrow) but I think it came out okay in the end. I still need to sharpen it, etch my name and make a sheath.

A little under 3/16th 1084
Handle is an inch thick
Unintentional hamon like all the rest of my first batch
Blade is 8" from tip to ricasso

Thanks for looking!

The holes are there to lessen drag in a side wind :). Well, I thought it would reduce weight and look cool, and I do know about stress risers, but I was just fooling with designs.

I like it. Gives you something to pinch when your using just the tip.

I'm not a fan of the holes in the blade. The size and placement looks like an afterthought. Who cares though? You have to experiment and learn and just have fun. But I do like the blade. Nice shape and grinds. Great effort.

Thanks guys. I'm slightly embarrassed to say that the holes were definitely not an afterthought but a perfect execution of a poor plan. But it was fun! The best part was resurrecting something I couldn't even look at. It just sat there on my bench mocking me, throwing it in my face how little I know of knife making. I hope I showed it who's boss. If nothing else at least it's different.

Now bring on the zombies so I can test it out. You know, the slow kind.
