Jarod's JT Wrap video is what insprired this knife, so it seems ridiculous to have completed it without having done it the way I intended. But I couldn't get my hands on the right cord for this small handle and I really wanted to make something! I'll find the right cord eventually.

After taking the pics I went in the yard and cut some stuff. It works pretty well, for which I'm grateful. Anyway, here it is.

Overall length - 6"
Blade length - 2 3/4"
Steel is 3/32" O1
Finish is Gun Kote

I guess I should have put something in the pic for scale; the handle is about the size of my thumb; the whole thing fits in my pocket. The sheath I made for this sucks though, so you ain't gonna see it. :D I'll have to think that through some more.

You know, grinding is not like riding a bicycle. It's been a couple of years since I actually made a knife, and I had something of a hard time with this. Usually I flat grind everything but since this is going to get sharpened a lot I wanted to hollow grind it, and because it's going to be abused I wanted to keep the point as heavy as I could. Adjusting the angle of my grind from the plunge to the point was rather trying. The point isn't quite as thick as I'd like but I think I'll get it next time. ;)

Great knife, for me the cord is lovely...
But the size is very subjective, dont you think that way :)...

Thanks for the nice words, gents. You're right galadduin, "my thumb" is kind of subjective but thumbs are generally a similar size aren't they? :D But yeah, I do have kind of big hands. Don, I'll bring this one the 11th - I just wish I was going to have a better sheath for it by then. But I won't. I think Kydex is going to be the way to go on this one. J.S. Carter, I woke my wife up to tell her your nice comment. She wasn't as pleased as I was, but she appreciated it all the same. :)

JT, I didn't do your wrap on this one the way I intended. To get all that weaving done I'll have to find a smaller cord to fit around this small handle. I will, and when I do it'll get the proper handle treatment. This is just a basic reverse on the flats kind of wrap.

I've given this thing a workout, and I'm really pleased it's holding up as well as it is. Who'd think O1 would hold a better edge than S30V? I guess multiple weekends will tell the real story. Even if it turns out I have to sharpen this more often than the Sebbie, I'm saving the nice knife from an early grave, which was my intent. Well, and to test Gun Kote for myself.

Now all I have to do is get a bigger air compressor. Bead blasting for 5 seconds, waiting 3 minutes to fill the little tank, 5 seconds - 3 minutes, etc gets old quickly! :D
