No becker kukri at shot show?

KA-BAR has a new policy that, after sober reflection, I think makes a lot of sense....... If it ain't in the box, in the shipping department, it will not be shown at shows....... Nothing good comes from getting everybody jacked up and then let down due to unforeseen circumstances....

The new policy does make sense boss.

Indeed it does. Many's the company or maker who got themselves in big, big trouble promising stuff before it was ready. There's one with a subforum here that just in the last year ticked off a lot of people and damn near went belly-up before they even got off the ground, by over-hyping, "debuting" too many new models/options, and taking pre-orders/orders for knives that didn't exist yet.

Stuff happened (as it sometimes does), release dates kept getting pushed further and further back, all kinds of money was tied up, they ended up firing some people and basically starting over... it was a huge, expensive mess that very nearly killed some very good ideas. All of that could have been avoided if they hadn't put the cart before the horse.

Relax, everyone... when it's ready, I'm pretty sure Ka-Bar and Ethan will let us know. ;)

+1 on this idea

Agreed.

"Rumor has it" that Becker and KA-BAR both/together/separately have some very cool stuff in the works, according to sources I cannot divulge. It's not a bad idea at all to lay low, stay tuned to official channels (Becker forum, KA-BAR's FB page, etc) and wait patiently for the real news about new knives from them... and have a few bucks set aside so you can pounce on 'em when they're ready :)

Let's look at it this way... Even if nothing new sees the light of day, the very worst that can happen is, BK&T and KA-BAR just keep providing more of the same great knives. ;)

You just said together and separately in the same sentence. Explain

Not to put words in JT's mouth, but I suspect he means there will be new non-Becker goodies from Ka-bar as well as Ka-bar/Becker joy.

Hey Guys.....

KA-BAR has a new policy that, after sober reflection, I think makes a lot of sense....... If it ain't in the box, in the shipping department, it will not be shown at shows....... Nothing good comes from getting everybody jacked up and then let down due to unforeseen circumstances.......Manufacturing is FULL of unforeseen circumstances......... I have been pretty bad about this...... As you all know, I get pretty enthused about new stuff with the BK&T logo on it....... I WANT to share........ So no Kukri at SHOT....It will come as soon as possible......

Soon dammit, soon.....

Ethan

As a manufacturing engineer busting my tail to fulfill empty promises made by the big wigs right before our industry's biggest trade show, I think that's a great policy.

As a guy that loves knives, particularly ones with Mr. Becker' name on them, I'm pretty bummed that the 21 has been delayed.

also as a timely reminder, some of y'all think that someone doesn't deserved their beckerhead number, but if they did the work, and haven't done anything horribly egrecious, like say, insulting a fellow member (like some of y'all may or may not have done from time to time, or above even ;> (hint: fix fix))... talk of taking their number away is a bit ... premature if anything, and definitely, you know, not cool. if y'all don't want your number, just let a mod know, we can help! :D

also, if it's not in a box, on my porch, or in my storage museum, it don't exist ;)

even if you know, for some reason, can buy one on the River or otherwise have seen them for sale, nope, nothing.
