Some people live in civilized parts of the world and can't "just get a gun". I also have to wonder what these two Einstein's are doing on a knife forum when firearms seems to be their response to a problem as amenable to less drastic solutions, as dangerous dogs are.

Hey Einstein, just really read your post - skipped over it last time. So the issue of attacks by dangerous dogs like Pit Bulls are amenable to less drastic solutions? You're mighty glib with your sarcastic and demeaning post directed at members offering their opinions.

Since the dumb, gun toting hayseeds who you referred to, offered possible solutions, how about if you instruct us in some of the many ways that one can defend themselves against such an encounter? If you're posting then offer the thread something or shut up plz.

Huh. You can't get a gun in the "civilized" places. That doesn't sound very civilized to me.

I'll keep living where I'm "allowed" to defend myself against the scumballs, thankyouverymuch.

Civilization = gun control? I don't see any correlation whatsoever. Restrict gun ownership in Japan, and you have barely any gun crime. But do the same thing in Columbia, and you have the worst gun crime in the world. Give your citizens assault rifles to keep in their homes in Switzerland, and everyone seems to get along fine. Can you really correlate civilization to scarcity of guns based on such variant information?

As for the dog thing, there was actually an incident about a year ago near where I live. A pitbull went beserk on a child, whose mother ran into the house, came out with a Glock, and emptied the magazine into the dog. So guns can be very effective in protecting small children against dogs, if that's what you're worried about.
