For the past several weeks I've been ordering a ton of stuff to supply the knife shop that will keep me busy in my retirement next year...no sense waiting until the last minute, right? ;-) Among the multitude of things that I've ordered were an 11$ dollar pair of 'No Cry' gloves from Amazon. When I ordered these, there wasn't an option for size, or if there was I hadn't noticed figuring it was one size fits all. When the gloves arrived I was disappointed that they were tight fitting on my hands and came in a package labeled 'medium'. Oh well, I'd thought, I'll pass them along to someone that can use them. I did put them on and swiped a very sharp knife across my palm and the gloves resisted cutting. Well actually, more than resisted as the material wasn't harmed at all. If you're anything like me, you cut or knick your fingers just looking at a knife, especially folders.

So yesterday I get an email from a fellow named Raino, the founder of NoCry. He asked if I was happy with the product and if I had any feedback to offer. I told him my sad tale. He responded back saying that he would send me another pair of 'large' size gloves at no charge, and that I could keep the other pair to pass along to someone that can use them. Remarkable. Out of everything that I have purchased so far, literally thousands of dollars in expense, its the customer service from a company that manufactures an $11 pair of cut resistant gloves that I'm most impressed with. NoCry gloves get my highest recommendation as for a product and for their customer service.

Nice review and it is good to hear that they stand by their product, but I think this belongs in feedback.

Being a Meat Cutter, I have used comparable products before. Worthy of note, while they will limit a slicing injury, you can stab right through them given a fine point on said knife.

I agree NJ...these are definitely good to guard against slicing injuries, but they're not meant to guard against stabbing injuries. I guess we'd need to wear mail armored gloves for that....but then we wouldn't be able to pick up a knife anyways. Didn't know there was a feedback forum... perhaps a moderator will move the thread if they see fit.

I purchased a pair a while ago. I have medium hands so I ordered size medium. They are mildly tight, but I'd rather them be tight hugging than loose draping. My only gripe is they offer zero grip (see what I did there?). Yeah I guess that's to be expected but I was hoping to be able to wear two gloves while sharpening, but I found I cannot wear a glove on the hand that is holding the knife. Perhaps I can fit a latex glove overtop the NoCry gloves for some traction.

Thats an interesting thought Jrawk. I may give that a try myself. I may, after thinking about it, keep the the medium sized ones as well and let anyone that wish's to handle the knives in my collection put them on. I can't count the number of times I'd spent getting finger prints off of knives the next day after getting them out to show someone. Arghhhh.....

You might try some small dots of clear silicone, or similar to get some traction. that would keep from turning the glove into a sweat bag.

Sounds like a pair or two I would want to own - more for glass handling than knife handling. Hmm, perhaps I shouldn't be so smug about handling my knives

Thanks for the info. I love great customer service stories. Those companies always get my $$s 1st

With a company so hands-on that the founder calls a customer to check on his satisfaction, I bet the same guy would be open to a discussion of the grip issue, and maybe have some suggestions.

We use these types of gloves at my job . Please still use caution with these types of gloves . They aren't stab proof of course and my job has had to go as far as going from calling them cut resistant PPE to now they describe them only as preventing you from getting cut as deep.

Not knocking the product at all they are good ,just some people get careless when they think they have something on that makes them whatever proof.

I have many a scar. No doubt things would of been a whole lot worse without the gloves but cuts still happen on a regular basis . Just monitor your gloves often . Any sign of wear especially between the index and thumb or at the finger prints throw the gloves out . We do a mandatory glove change every 2 hours at my job.

Also my job because of the employees and the 2 hour glove change they contract these gloves out to be cleaned. The gloves are actually stronger after a trip back from Cintas . So washing them and drying them does help .

Probably because Cintas goes WAY overboard with the starch and the glove/coats could stand on their own when they first arrive.
Lol ;)

They shrink them too .Lol yea I wish I didn't haft to deal with Cintas but with has threatened divorce next time I pit an oily greasy uniform in out washer

Hi guys,

This is Raino from NoCry. I was directed to this thread by a member and saw that some of you are concerned about the grip of the gloves. I wanted to let you know that we're currently developing a new version of the gloves with small silicone dots on palm and finger areas. Compared to the current gloves they will offer a much better grip, especially with smooth and solid surfaces. They will be available in the second half of June this year, so already in a couple of months. If you're interested I'd be happy to post a notice about it here as soon as the first patch reaches our warehouses.

I also wanted to let you know that I am available to answer all the questions that you might have about us or about the gloves.

Regards,
Raino
