No-E, SFNO, or Hell Razor?

After getting my GW's yesterday, I've decided to pull the trigger on a larger (6-7") Busse, but I can't decide which one I want.
I don't have the luxury of buying one of each, so I've narrowed my options to a NO-E, SFNO, or Hell/Mud Razor. I'll use it primarily for camping and hunting (carried with a GW would be a killer combo).

I'm sure that a few of you have at least one of each, so . . .

Of these knives, which do you prefer, and why?
Which one is the most comfortable?
Which one has the thickets/thinnest blade?
Which one is the best at cutting hard and soft materials?
Which one makes you feel the most manly when you hold it?

And what are the going rates of these blades?
I know that SFNO's are over $500, that HR's are over $300 . . . and No-E's can vary . . . does anyone have a better idea of prices?

Thanks, and good luck to everyone in the extravaganza tonight!

Which one is the most comfortable? That's personal preference. Thicker blades fill the hand more, some like that, some don't.

Hell-, MudRazor is more of a "fighter" (it's the faster blade).
SFNO is more of an "allrounder"

I guess the thickness of either blade is the same (I don't know for sure about the NO-e).

Between my MudRazor and my SFNO Variant, the SFNO Variant has the more comfortable handles (not by much though), ymmv though. The handles of the SFNO Variant differ from the regular SFNO's. JurT can answer this one better ;-)
I don't own a NO-e so cannot comment on that one.

Which one is manlier????? I dunno.....

All I can say is: the chances of finding a regular SFNO are a million to one nowadays

It's darn hard finding a SFNO these days. I prefer mags vs the standard scales on the non variant SFNO's. The muddy SFNO variant has also the standard scales but they feel very nice. They feel much more comfortable then the standard scales of the non variant. I've had a HR for awhile. It was a nice blade but the SFNO is the more allrounder and for me better for camping. The HR is faster and has much better penetration then a SFNO. On the HR you'll find also the corrugated bevels. Personally I don't like the looks of it. If I remember correct the HR was also a little thinner then the SFNO. I'm not sure about this.
About the NO-e. I've never had one so I can't tell you much about it. About the prices for an SFNO, they can vary alot. I get sometimes offers to sell one of my outlaws for way more over 500USD.

For me the SFNO is number 1:thumbup:

I love my NO-E. It's built like a tank, not too long or short, and in my opinion it's pretty light for a fighter. Not as light as the Razor or SJ but it's quick. I love the feel of the Ergos. But like mentioned above, that's a personal preference.

Resurrecting a dead thread:
Can someone who owns a NO-E and a Hell Razor, and who has medium sized hands, tell me which one is more comfortable?

Thanks!

i personaly find the hell razors to be the most comfy and all around great,,,,, i have a few of each and my hell razor is the go to blade.....

The only problem I have with the Hell Razor are the swells in the middle of the handle. The swell keeps my whole hand from getting a grip on it. It's like I'm holding a bow (the proper way), and only the top of my hand gets a good grip.

Are my hands just small?

Sounds like your HR is defective... you better send it to me for proper disposal. :D :D :D :p

No really... sounds like you have an HR w/ mag handles... maybe you should give standard handles a try.

I never had a SFNO, or NO-E, only the Hell Razor.......I like it just fine, but really in that size...I prefer the older Satin Jacks....maybe if I can handle some of the others I may change my mind........time will tell.

Nope, standard handles . . . (at least, that's what I think walking man said they were).

Thanks for the disposal offer though!
I'll trade you straight across for a NO-e
(a joke of course, no need for a "yellow card" for offer to trade in an improper area)

I agree, it seems like my HR's handle is a bit thicker (length, not width) than my hand finds comfortable.

Strobengh,

I've got the NO-E, HR (mags) and a HOSJTAC-LE (all blades lengths are within 1/2" of each other..measured from the end of the micarta)....the HOSJTAC-LE has the blade design of the SJTAC, but the same thickness as the SFNO (.22" thick), this one is my first choice. For me, the HR handle creates gaps in my grip. The NO-E is my second choice (.25" thick), the handle is only slightly larger then the HOSJTAC-LE, and carrys it's weight more in the handle. I know the HOSJTAC-LE are a bit more money, but as they are satin finish it's easy to clean up, they are also somewhat more available.

Also the drop point on the NO-E makes is bit harder to batton when compared to the HOSJTAC-LE (less drop at the tip). Good luck on your quest, let us know what you decide and how you like it.

ive had all three, i recently sold my hr.

my sfno and hr have mags, the sfno mags are thicker.

for me, the sfno is the perfect large knife. it can chop, but is small enough for other camp chores, ie food prep, etc.

the sfno is the most comfortable of the three to hold during heavy use, though the other two are not uncomfortable.

im expecting one with reg handles this week, so ill let you know how they compare to the mags.

NO-E !! Or Better Yet BM-E !!!:D  :D Because I think they are just cooler! :D

You can't go wrong w/any of them -- of course you already know that...

I've never had a SFNO... But of the other two, I'd go with the HR / Mud Razor. But, I think I'd rather have a SH-E than any of the above (just my opinion.) Especially if you have the SH-E reground to a symmetrical edge. It's a "smaller" very big knife.
