No-glove?

I don't care for those because they will slow your string down. Anything you attach to the string will do that. It would be like shooting heavier arrows without getting the benefit of the extra kinetic energy.

Ever considered "no glove" literally? Last few years I was shooting I went without, wasn't too bad (kept misplacing my glove). Mind you it was a 50lb recurve not a high weight compound...

Just reread & saw "stickbow", try shooting without a glove even once, you might not hate it.

I don't have any problems using a tab, but not the fancy ones they sell. Make mine out of horse hide and they work great. I know a few people that do not use any finger protection and they get by. However, they can't shoot a couple hundred arrows a weekend, like one would during a competition. I would think that eventually the nerves in the fingers will start to bark, or will start to lose feeling and I would also think that plucking the string might start, because of the lack of a smooth surface for the string to slide on.

Hard to believe, but in my younger days I did shoot literally no-glove. Bare finger is do-able, but the conditioning phase is long and NO FUN and you must maintain it or start over. Yuck. I just don't have the time or inclination these days. Walking or in a stand, gloves and tabs always seem to be either in the way, not there or a general PITA at the wrong moment. The no-glove looked like some sort of alternative, but how good I couldn't tell. I expected some sort of performance penalty but was hoping that it would minor or offset by the advantage of, well, no glove.

try the two finger gloves. they are like gloves but they only cover your pointer and middle finger. that worked well for me when i used it. as for now i just go bare handed. i use a 50 pond compound, its not that harsh on the fingers but good enough for a deer or wooden target.

I couldn't do it now, haven't shot in so long my fingers are baby-soft & would balloon up & turn a pretty shade of purple I'm sure. I have shot bare finger at trad shoots but never competed. Did compete with a target compound but always used a mechanical release & had every gadget you can imagine hanging off the bow.
