I’m hoping the wealth of knowledge here can help. Can anyone think of (preferably non-historical) folders with a “clean” blade? That is, a folder with no hole, flipper, thumbstub, nail nick or pull groove/notch -just enough exposed “clean” blade to open? I have the QSP Worker, which is a great, solid knife, but annoyingly has a completely unneeded nail nick -any makers out there that realized that the blade on their knife doesn’t actually require the gunk-accumulating nail nick?

Not sure if the metal protrusion counts this out, but what about a higonokami? I suppose I’d call that clean.

Some historical Spanish Navajas also appear to have a clean blade.

These are the little ultralight, but the full sized LST is the same.
Btw these are my only folders without a nail nick, and none of my traditional pocket knives get full of gunk.
I've got traditional pocket knives as old as 100 years old and none of them came to me with a gunked up nail nick.

If I do slice off some cheese with my pocket knife all it takes is a second with a toothpick to clear the nail nick, even that doesn't happen every time.

It may seem on paper like this would happen, but in my experience it's something that rarely does.

Check out lionSTEEL, Maserin, MKM, and Viper. https://www.collectorknives.net/

The LionSteel Opera models do not have any nicks, studs, or whatever. I only own the small version, but I believe the same applies to the full size model.

In the interest of being "that guy", what about a small fixed blade?

(Also the Kizer Feist, and a couple offerings from Extrema Ratio. I'm going to let some other people make suggestions, now )

Actually didn't think of that.
Most front flippers don't have anything on the list. there is even a front flipper category on BHQ.
For a suggestion I would look at the stuff from Pena Knives. They are really nice looking.

I absolutely love clean blades. Whenever there is enough blade to grab, just diss the cursed nail nick (or even worse, the match striker nick. It looks cool, though). Here is the one that enlightened me :

And this one, of course :

I have that one too and liked it the first time I handled it. AG Russell calls that a gentleman's knife and I agree. Very slim and almost scalpel like blade.

It seems that the Italian knife makers/manufacturers seem to have more knives without a blade extraction assist than others. I like herisson herisson that Opera model. I have the small version in stag, but your stag is nicer than mine.

What about Medford's that open with the fuller? Does that count as a nail nick?

Well, stag handles are like the proverbial box of chocolates... This said, I waited eagerly for the Big Opera to be available. In the meantime, I realized the Mini Opera was just right. I have no doubt the Big Opera would be cool but no... the Mini is just where it's at.

Some great suggestions... thanks everyone! The friction folder idea reminds me that my Fox Dragontec sort of fits the bill, but I haven’t figured out a carry that keeps it from sliding down to the bottom of my pocket... but it wipes clean :-)

I am willing to acknowledge that my “no nick” position is a bit OCD. o_O
