No Knife/Modern tool bow drill

Hell yeah....Good job man. We all know how many bottles are scattered across the land. I know 100% that I could find a bottle quicker then a suitable piece of flint. In my neck of the woods anyways.....

I harvested 2 fat yucca stalks yesterday on a hike. Do any of you guys think a 2 stick bowdrill would be easier then the standard hearthboard/notch? Ive got some stuff to do a 2 stick, but Im gonna practice it at home before I go out and attempt it with stone tools. Im just wondering, seeing as you wouldnt need to carve the notch, and split wood for the hearthboard. You could twist up cordage to tie em together and use the lace for the bow.

I prefer the two stick and split stick hearth boards, but they are not always the best option. You don't even have to bind them together, bro! There are ways around that, too.

FIRST PERSON TO GIVE ME THREE VIABLE OPTIONS FOR A UNBOUND 2-STICK HEARTHBOARD WINS.

Great skills Guys that is just fantastic.. This kind of stuff is the stuff I love to see

Rick I'm just guessing here, as i;ve only done a split stick a handful of times
The y in a forked stick
pinning your 2 sticks together with your foot on one side and perhaps a stone on the other
partially burying a the sticks in a narrow trench so they don;t shift?

Like drilling into the crotch of a tightly formed branch thus utilizing the natual V at its most accute point

I'll buy that one.... you win.... PM me your address again, loser... I mean, Riley.

oh cool I thought We swon in a figurative sense
now if I could get an ember with all of them that would mean something other than the fact that I;m a survival book nerd.

Id think they would have to be really close together at the fork or the notch would be too big and take forever to fill. :confused:

This method is brand new to me so Im scratchin my head at how to do it without binding em. :o

I just need to start spinning and stop over thinking.....:rolleyes:

Great ideas John....:thumbup::thumbup:

Rick
