Hi all,

At my job I'm not allowed to carry a knife of any sort, or pointy scissors, or basically anything that would work as a cutting tool:eek::mad:but I could really use a multi-tool that didn't have a knife blade in it. Has anyone seen one, or am I reduced to picking up used Leatherman and turning the knife blade into a screwdriver.

Thanks,

Walter

There are several that you can replace the blade with a tool. SOG Powerlocks are easy to do it and they sell the tools.

I second the knifeless fuse. Great tool in and of itself. Also, taking out the blade of the powerlock is good idea as well if you need some real deal grip.

Just to mention, the Knifeless Fuse has tiny scissors on it. Hopefully that wouldn't be a problem, cause I think it looks like the right tool.

The last Stinking job I had was a No Knives Policy. I have a better job now but, I think its going to be the wave of the Future.

I used to run a florist shop. Carrying knives and scissors was compulsory! lol.

I have been to the Moab, Utah area and find it difficult to believe that any place there would not allow at least a small knife. That is one of the most outdoorsy and beautiful areas in the whole country. It is a damn shame, to say the least, that you can't take a knife to work. I might do it anyway, but not take it out unless I was alone.

yes look for an new job and tell em why! if many people do so and they have an hard time find people who want work under that diktatorship they may start using common sense again.

and report that company to the nra and simmilar right organisations, that company is in utah usa and not in whatever bad law european country righ?

what will that company do as i have an apointment with you people there? search my pockets/bags prior let me in and find an number of knives becaue im an ... knifemaker?

good luck by find an better job as soon possible.

Thanks again all for the suggestions, and sorry for not getting back in here sooner! I think I can get away with the small scissors on the various multi-tools, but I'm sure fullsize ones would be out The sad thing about my job is that it is one where a pocket knife is a necessity! I work on a drilling rig, and constantly cut rope, string, and packages, open industrial chemical sacks, trim zip-ties, etc. and it would be perfect place to try out pocket knives and multi-tools. However, the power-that-be have decided that any type of knife at work is a firing offence, since some people have cut themselves before.:grumpy: I find it hilarious that a the largest drilling contractor in the US has no problem hiring just about anyone off the street and letting them run a loader or extend-a-boom forklift which can (and has) killed people along with doing thousands of dollars in damage (more often than you'd think) but can't stand the thought of a person using a pocket knife in their daily operations. They will let us use medical shears, sack openers (not to be confused with box openers), and hack-saws, but will let you go if you get caught using a pocket knife. We actually have a tool box labeled "Company Approved Cutting Devices":o:foot: Truthfully, my company is by far the worst in the oilfield as far as over-the-top safety regs go, and I'm sure it will eventually come back to bite them in the rear:p
