No knives on planes?

I'm very disappointed, thought not really surprised, that this happened. I fly frequently on business and I was really looking forward to being able to take my Vic classic with me. I generally don't check a bag for a two-day trip, and mailing a knife to myself is problematic for the same reason. Bah. Another win for the bleeting masses.:thumbdn:

The idiotic thing is i can have a 7 inch OAL screwdriver, which in my estimation is a vastly more effective weapon than a small knife. Personally i think the TSA is slowly making the USA more used to a totalitarian society than any other measure. when you fly on a plane you give up your 4th amendment right because apparently all the probable cause they need to search and seize your property is that you need to get somewhere fast. The general public has got to the point they are petrified of things that have a very low probability of hurting them, especially in responsible hands, and they will gladly give freedoms up so they FEEL secure.

I called it. Once knives were banned from airplanes they could never, ever, under any circumstances ever be allowed back on airplanes again. Once something is banned it has to stay banned for eternity because the sheep have become conditioned to accept that and only that. If you try and change that they become afraid and freak out. And that's just what the controlists want. They can't have people being unafraid of inanimate objects, that would suggest they can exercise personal responsibility and be capable for themselves. That's simply unacceptable in today's world.

We live in a society now that when interviewed or polled would rather give up their freedoms for a false sense of security. They seem to gaze off into the sky when asked why. We've got a lot of mindless robots out there, and they are shaping our laws.

Makes an interesting case for listers (bandage scissors) and trauma shears. Short blade, long handles, no lack of cutting power, and designed to not injure people. Also, cheap ~$6 in case they do get confiscated.

Not as versatile as a knife, but better then keys and teeth.
