No love for the manix 2 lw

I recently acquired a Manix 2 XL which is not by any stretch a LW. That thing is pretty large although i have never seen a standard Manix for comparison.
That sucker carries OK in the pocket but is TALL (meaning wide when in my pocket).
I mean I can't get the knife and my hand into the same pocket at the same time. It is a pure delight to hold and use but I now wish I had gotten the standard size.
This thread wasn't about the XL but I thought I'd throw it in here anyway.

I found that mine carries better simply dropped into my pocket. I can other things in there with it and it does not block the opening of the pocket.

Definitely a very tall knife, but that helps gives it really excellent cutting geometry. I'm patiently waiting for the blurple S110V Manix 2 XL as it may be the only thing that can kick the plain Jane XL out of my pocket for any significant amount of time.

The XL carries so much better with a deep carry clip. Yep, it takes up a lot of pocket space but I have no problem carrying it. My favorite Manix. Carrying the XL a lot in the last few years is why a LW (great though they are) just doesn't feel right to me.

Maybe I'm just weird, but I'd honestly love to see an XL lightweight. Particularly an S110V model.

Thanks for the thoughts on the XL. I will try carrying without clip, the way I carry the vast majority on my smaller knives. It never occurred to me to try that on such a large knife. My other knives are much smaller.
I really like the XL. Mine has the black G-10 which I neither love nor hate. I would like to try a "burple". I haven't seen one in person but love the looks in pics.
I am an orange and purple sort of a guy as one might surmise from my avatar.

I need to pick me up an S110V LWT soon!

Here's my baby for now...

Wow! That black on black is outstanding. I actually wish that I had gotten that one instead of my s110v. I'm not very good at sharpening and that bd1 probably would have suited me better.

Thank you for the kind words! Yeah, once I saw this version pop up for sale I knew I had to pick it up.

I've been using this knife a lot over the past few weeks at the FedEx warehouse. Spyderco's DLC is some serious stuff! You can't really tell how much cardboard and zip ties this knife has gone through.

I'm really pleased with the BD1. I think you'd like it a lot. It's actually a breeze to sharpen up. I'll try and post some more pics later.
