yeah, but..........
without markings, where does the responsibility lay?? Its a matter of he said she said.. If not being marked an HI why would they honor it.. ??
Anything sold by HI is an HI piece and would be covered by whatever applicable HI warranty there is... it's not that difficult to go back and look up an old DotD thread or check prior emails to show it was purchased through HI.
That said, I'm fairly sure that the Ganjawal is covered for general/normal use and not field use as per the Limited Lifetime Warranty. Personally though, I use all my HI blades for "field use" and have never had an issue. With a few exceptions, they're all tough blades that will stand up to "field use" regardless of whether they're covered for it or not...
That said, I go more by the "usage within inherent limitations" part of the warranty - I'd like to think I'm enough of a critical thinker to judge a blade's inherent limitations before using it for a task it might not handle or be well-suited for. If a 1/2" thick kukri shatters from chopping a tree that isn't petrified, frozen, or insanely hard, common sense is going to say that it was a defective product whether it's covered for "field use" or not. The warranty is ultimately at Aunty's discretion, but she's a very reasonable and kind gal who knows her stuff.
