I just obliterated my budget for discretionary expenditures for, I don't know how long. We just got back from the vet's office and my credit card is still hot to the touch. They kept Black Douglas alive and they say he might live another year and that's worth every cent. I never thought a cat would mean this much to me, but he is exceptional.

Bless you brother, you can’t put a price on that, you’re right, it is worth every cent. Prayers go out to Black Douglas and his family for a wonderful 2023 together.

Black Douglas looks like a cool ass cat and 💯 with ya bud. Years ago dropped 5k trying to keep my feline buddy Bob alive but unfortunately it was not meant to be. Never regretted it for a minute. He was wonderful. Thank you for the reminder. Long live Black Douglas 👍

Damn, as a major pet lover I sincerely feel deeply for you. If you could use some money I'd be happy to help. Or if I come across a knife purchase that I decide I hate and you like, I'll gladly send it your way. I know it seems an odd thing from a complete stranger, but that's how you make friends for life and that's an investment worthy of investing into. Best wishes to you and your family, especially Douglas, during this holiday season.

Good priorities.
Cats are, by far, my favorite animal. Of all the dogs I have met in my life, there have been two types: the kind that loves me unconditionally (even if they have never met me) and the ones that want to tear out my throat (without provocation).

Cats are different. They are open to negotiation. You most likely won't walk away with what you want out of the relationship, but if you meet in the middle at "mutual respect" you're doing good. Cats make you EARN their love.

Long live Black Douglas.

My experience is that cats are all aholes. They're only affectionate to a very minimal and one side degree. Not a fan personally, but as an animal lover in general I'll take a cat over nothing.

Someone told me once that cats teach you about boundaries. Our newest foster fail is very good at teaching boundaries, but needs to learn some herself. I was taking this picture of my very fine Hannibal socks to send to a friend, which she proceeded to photo bomb, then lie on my socks and bite me when I tried to put them on.

Thanks for all the kind words. There have been a lot of tears around our house, this week. He's still not eating and pretty lethargic, so we don't know if the meds are going to have the intended effect. If he makes it through this week, he'll need regular check ups to monitor his medications. I just hope that he has a good quality of life in the time he has left.

There were some people in the emergency vet office today who were suffering a loss and we had a hard time keeping our composure, just seeing them.

Boris says, "Take care of my bro, I need my snuggle buddy."

Animals are generally better than people. I admire your priorities. Any time you have with a special pet is a treasure and priceless. As you mentioned, quality of life is important (even if it hurts us). Best wishes sent y’alls way.
