The current state of the case is that the bozo had been arrested.

The police have been liaising with me since day one. I am JB4570s Brother.

Police don't work that way. They need to talk to the crime victim....not somebody who tells them he's a relative.

Also, there should be information beyond "arrested."

Mate... I cant help but think you think I am not telling the complete truth here.

The "bastard" who scammed John *was* arrested. He was not only scamming John on eBay he was arrested for other offences. I was told by the Police that he was charged with E-Fraud and obtaining monies by deception. There are other people that he has scammed and has been caught.

What I have done so far was to throw Johns two cents in...

I have *No* doubt that the UK police will be in contact with John. The police wheels in the UK turn slowly. The wheels would move a lot faster if John was to fly over and deal with the Police directly. But seeing has that aint economically viable then I am doing all that I can. I have told them I am his Brother in law and for the moment they seem happy with that. When they need to speak to John then I am sure they will.

But like I have posted before - he was arrested not just for this offence but for other offences.

I reported the new auction to Ebay and I have called the Police this evening. At the moment there is no guarantee that its the same person. Could be a friend or something. Dont know.

If its a scam Dave then I would not bother... They will set up with another Email address and then go off and try elsewhere.

Note here...

The original scammer had a proper ISP Email address which is what the police got the home address for.. the new one was a Yahoo email address which is free and you can set those up from anywhere.

For me, the confusion came when (from the very beginning) every question I ever asked about this adventure brought answers that gave what seemed to be convenient explanations, but never quite seemed real (if you know what I mean).

I'm sure that all will become clear soon, because JB will either be contacted or he will finally contact the police in London and find out what the hell is going on. He could probably have his local police check it out for him with one phone call.

The delay has been too great to be anything but suspicious and the idea that police would arrest a man for a crime without checking with the VICTIM of the crime is too incredible to blindly accept without verification from authorities.

Nothing personal, it's only reasonable to question something that sounds so totally unlikely.

I'm sure it will soon sort out.

one the police there would have to pay to have john fly over to testify,
not likely if they can proscute him on other charges

hower sence johns name has been placed for him it is more likely he will be rembersed then not
and i am sure john is very happy with the way things are going ...

Due to the law in the UK (DPA) Data Protection Act.. they wont tell me what other offences have been comitted and against whom.

But like you say they will contact JB when they need to....

This was never about other offenses or other people. From the start it's been represented as the scammer being arrested because of what he did to John.

Then yesterday it seemed to change......seeming more like he had been arrested due to offenses against "other people" and you had just put "John's 2 cents in."

And that was a major change in the story.

Oh, it's probably just a communications problem, but as of now, it just don't add up.

I'll bump this thread just to refresh memories......since I'm being hammered by JB on another thread for questioning the circumstances surrounding him getting scammed on some e-Bay knives.

In this thread we found that the guy who, according to Mav, had been arrested--was instead back in business scamming on e-Bay.

In this thread I pointed out a couple of puzzling changes and contradictions in Mav's story.

Again there were no good explanations from Mav. Instead, he vanished shortly thereafter......making only three more posts.

One of the posts was about shipping a knife that he had bought for somebody on this forum......which he was going to be SENDING to that somebody on this forum.

Funny thing, I don't recall that there was the usual excitement and celebration of the arrival of that knife......didn't see any posts and pictures about it ever arriving at all.

So......why wouldn't I be a skeptic?

And since Mav said he was going to be there when this guy went to court.....why haven't we heard about THAT important event?

Why no explanation? Why the sudden silence?

And if Mav was such good buddy to people on this forum......why can't any of them find him?
