First of all, be careful where you post. General Knife Discussion is for threads of about knives, not about laws, or politics, or complaints.

I have moved this to the Knife Laws forum. If you look around there, you will find plenty of information on why knife dealers feel they cannot take a chance on shipping to New York. Don't complain here about it, complain to your representatives.

Second, our discussion forums are meant to be family-friendly. Keep the vulgarity in Whine & Cheese.

was at the gun store yesterday. they re still for sale! As well as a Barrett 50 cal! I think only difference now is you can only purchase ten round magazines? But im not saying im an expert on this topic!

Esav Man! i am new around here. i apologize. just seeking some answers from some friendly americans!!

Wow, I grew up in upstate NY - moved to NJ in my 20's. In NY you have plenty more use for various knives than in most of NJ. I've ordered no less than 15 and had them shipped to my NJ address in recent years and have never had an issue. Like others have mentioned, get out there and VOTE. Every election too - not just the presidential ones! It matters. </soapbox>

You vote once every ew years. You can write to the Mayor, the District Attorney, your representatives at every level, and keep on writing, and get your friends to write.

Don't send email. Write your complaints out by hand, sign them, and send them by US mail.

There's even members that won't ship to NY right now. It's depressing. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Manhattan and it's surrounding boroughs are not the rest of NY state. I don't live in Manhattan or it's surrounding boroughs nor does any of my mail get filtered through NYC, so I would appreciate it if I could just continue to purchase my knives like I always have.

Whats wrong with these people, it is perfectly legal to sell knives to the rest of New York but refuse to and there is no reason they can not. There is plenty of people and stores that will sell to New York just search and they will gladly sell what you want. What is happening around Manhattan and it's surrounding boroughs only applies to Manhattan and it's surrounding boroughs no where else in New York.

Please read he other threads about this and you will understand.

The Manhattan Attorney General commands a legal and financial empire that deliberately threatened knife dealers and has tried to extend its program to other parts of the state. Many dealers refuse to take a chance on getting gouged or extorted. Check with KnifeRights for the latest word on where all this stands.

In short, The NYC DA is using NY STATE law as his basis for enforcement. Other DAs are not on the same path ( yet at least), but he has paved their way to do so.

They're right - the problem isn't knife sellers, it's the thugs in power in various bits of NY. Remove them and remove the problem.

no idea on the legality of the .50 cal...my guess on the AR's is that its for police or other authorized people.

http://www.nraila.org/gunlaws/

if you go there, it specifically lists AR15 as an assault weapon...

I am no expert on this, but I would be really surprised if it were legal for an ordinary joe to be able to get one.

Tony8179 maybe we can do business sometime?! Yeah living in NY state sucks! NYC needs to be separated like a district or something?! All i want is a damn knife! How is a foot long kitchen knife any less dangerous than a 7 inch folder? F in G damn politicians!! (Esav i tried to make that as fam friendly as i could, sorry)
