The cure is this: Forget about GEC. Seriously. There's never enough to go around and all everyone does is get into a feeding frenzy over the few that actually do become available somewhere. Assuming you can get to this point, it's actually quite entertaining sitting back and watching the feeding frenzy!

I agree. I jumped off the deep end into the GEC thing just as many new members do as well. I was able to get my hands on just about every pattern and the most sought after knives.

Got into customs and sold all of my GEC's. Basically, I don't even have any production knives anymore. For what some people pay for the highly coveted GEC's, you could pass on two of them and get a custom that is 10x better in every category. Steel, fit, finish, action, etc.

The downside is that the subforum is so dominated by GEC discussion that my participation has fallen off.
