On September 2 I ordered two knives from Discount Knives through their website. Last week, I noticed that I did not have any response in my email from the order. It could be I got one and accidentally deleted it, but I just don't know.

So last Wednesday I sent an email to Discount Knives to ask about the order. Seven days later there has been no reply.

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago while trying to order a Marbles knife from Discount Knives. I sent several emails to ask the status of the order, and there was no reply. I finally asked them to cancel the order.

This time I think I have learned my lesson. I have sent one more email, asking Discount Knives to inform me of the status of the order, or else cancel it. If there is still no answer, I will notify my credit card company to not accept any future charge for the order.

This kind of service problem is just not acceptable. When one starts having problems like these, it is not worth the small savings one might get from the lower prices of such a dealer.

There are TOO many awesome knife dealers to be messing around with companies that do stuff like this. I know things pop up and sh-t happens, but if its happened again, then you know its time to cut ties.

Remember the immortal words of President Bush

There's an old saying in Tennessee -- I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee...that says, fool me once, shame on...... (long pause) shame on you. Fool me …(long pause) can't get fooled again."

wierd, i had the exact same thing happen to me. ordered a leatherman, did not get the confirmation email that the order form said i would receive. sent them another two emails, no reply. today i sent yet another email saying forget it, cancel the order. discountknives customer service is horrible.

I have ordered several knives from them, and found them to be the chaepest. I did get confirmations right away. Doesn't sound right. Maybe technical problems??

I have considered the possibility of technical problems. However, this same problem did happen to me before, a couple of years ago, and Discount Knives did not make any excuses for not answering my emails.

As I said, I have sent a second email. I will wait another week before giving up on the order. Technical problems should get fixed fairly fast if a business is serious about maintaining its reputation and service.

Oops - I just noticed I put August 2 for the date of my order with Discount Knives. It was September 2 (2003) - not August 2.

Anyhow, with no confirmation of the order and no reply to now two emails asking about it, I have just sent an email requesting that the order (if it even exists) be canceled. I have also sent an email to my credit card company asking that they do not accept any charges from Discount Knives.

I think if there were any technical difficulties at Discount Knives they would have been fixed by now. Plus this is not the first time I have had a problem with Discount Knives not replying to emails asking about an order I had placed with them.

I have no time nor desire to fool with a company that does not reply to customer inquiries. When it happened before I decided to give them one more chance. Now they have had that second chance. Discount Knives will get no more of my business.

I went looking for contact iinfo for Discount Knives, and the only thing listed is an email address.

I would think that a business such as this would list a phone number for human contact should problems arise.

I'll have to agree with TBG; there are way too many good knife dealers who have great customer service, so there isn't any need to mess around with places like Discount Knives.

I would urge everyone to support the knife dealers who have become member dealers here at BFC, as well as 1SKS. Your purchases help keep this place afloat!

For what it's worth, I have ordered two knives from them via 800 number. Arrived promptly. No problems. Maybe they need a techno-wizard to handle their e-mail.

I have ordered several knives from Discount Knives in the past, the previous two being in August. Those arrived in about ten days, but they were very common knives.

However, it seems that if any sort of problems come up then it can be very frustrating trying to deal with them. I can accept delays in recieving a hard to get item. What I cannot accept is the failure to reply to my emails asking about an order. It happened once before and I let it go. This time it went over the limit of what I can tolerate.

It would be helpful if you sent Mr. Beck that 800 number, so he can contact them.

I couldn't find any phone listings on their site.

He used to have an 800 number but it was always busy and finally it disappeared from the website. That was a long time ago.

If a website posts an email address for contact, that is what should work. It should not be necessary to phone, write, send a carrier pigeon, etc.

I've sent a final message asking that the order, should it exist (something I was never able to establish in the first place) be canceled. There has been no reply to that message, either.

Do search for them here on GBA.. and you will find many cases like that. I too had ordered from them before with no problems - just my last order did not arrive. We exchanged several e-mails, then the responses ceased.. I had to resolve the situation with my CC company.

Hello David,

If I was a knife dealer and someone from the Czech Republic ordered knives from me, I would want to deliver the knives myself. The Czech Republic is an absolutely beautiful place. I was there earlier this year, visiting Prague and Karlovy Vary. Both the cities and the countryside are gorgeous - and so are the Czech women! Great beer, too.

OK, next time I order knives form US I will have them shipped to you and you can deliver them ;). Although I live on the other side of our republic I would say it is equally nice place... :)

Discount Knives = bad&ugly:barf:
As TheBadGuy said "There are TOO many awesome knife dealers", so why to deal with one like this?

I have just had the same experience with Discount Knives. Ordered a mini Griptilian in purple for my wife's birthday present. No knife, no response to email. I assume this guy is operating out of a closet in his parents' home. No way to contact him. Hope this guy goes out of business. He deserves to.
