Hi All. How well will epoxy hold on G-10 scales with no rivets. The knife in question is a SD EDC. Thanks.

A good thing to do is put a few hidden pins in it with the glue.

If the inside of the scales have been roughened the hold will be determined by the qualities of the epoxy itself.

Easy to test but I would guess that they would pop off with the first drop on a concrete floor. I had a few drops of epoxy that hardened on a piece of vinyl and while they would flex if bent slowly, if you hit then with something hard, the epoxy shatters like glass.

Thanks guys. The handle has two 1/2 divots and a milled line on both sides. I guess I should just ask the maker if he wants to try it.

With the appropriate epoxy, the only way I can manage to remove handle scales I don't like is by grinding them off. Any attempt at breaking them off with force or leverage does nothing more than destroy the handle material, leaving the stuff in contact with the knife.

What do you mean by "epoxy?" The Devcon stuff that sets in 5 minutes, or Brownell's AcraGlas?

Keep in mind that even if a better grade of epoxy is used, some will break down over time. So, it may hold now, but in 7-10 years it may not.
