No shipping to Germany

not that I don't trust you haebbie--never even hinted that----it is the stupid system ebay and the world have in place to make this happen---actually I did sell international for over 5 years and I did ship many items to germany---just took a few bad apples right in a row to burn the bridge for me---I am a small guy that works from home--no one working for me --I am not big business like some so I can not afford to get taken by the big rich system like that--that don't care about us small guys....but believe me haebbie it is NOTHING at all against you.....Fix the system...….right...

just one note---if the package is delivered -tracking number scanned--all went good---but you open box and nothing there cuz customs scammed it out of box--
insurance is no good because the package was delivered--for post office transaction is done---that's when buyer contacts feebay and slams the seller..
I have seen it happen--not good...
most of the problem is with dishonest customs....

also haebbie it is not only germany----it is worldwide---its too bad---15 years ago it was not like that....

Doesn’t eBay have the international option where you ship it to one of their US centers and they take over from there? Could’ve sworn I did that a couple years ago and it doesn’t cost the seller overseas postage, the buyer has to pay that which is figured on their end.

I've long been considering setting up a forwarding service/renting a postal Box, but I have no clue which ones are good. Also, I don't buy international THAT often. Have you guys got any recommendations?

If I do ever get one, I might consider sharing it for other Europeans in the same boat.

I don't know of one but try googling that and see what you can find....
wow I just googled it and there are several forwarding services----you can buy 10 knives and have them shipped to your box---they consolidate them and make 1 shipment to you---actually you would probably save a lot of money doing that---that is just an example of what I am reading---sounds like a good thing---check it out lodd and let us know what you come up with... I would love to sell you guys some knives and I will give ya great deals too...

google ---- mail forwarding to Europe...

I would be more than happy to ship overseas to Herbert but only because I know him. I don't ship internationally anymore when selling on the bay. I have gotten ripped off about 10-20% of the time which eats up
more than the profit I make on the ones that go without any problem. I have had them say they got an empty box, or they didn't receive it. On quite a few occasions I would send them a brand new knife
and once received would be told the knife was dull and used and would want a partial refund or I would have to pay the international shipping to get the item back. I did partial refunds way too often.
Than I got to thinking maybe this was just another way to get some of their money back so I started telling them to go ahead and send the item back and and once received I would issue them a full refund.
Believe it or not they always went ahead and kept the item and did not return it. Another common complaint was the shipping time. I would only ship global priority and would start getting complaints within
a couple days of the purchase asking where their item is and than the negative feedback would follow. With the new ebay rules the seller almost always looses. I have had problems with US buyers as well but they are much fewer.

I'm posting this for DP, he had to take off...

ok haebbie---lets say you get the package from bert--we all know bert is honest and shipped you the knife---you get package delivered and it is empty---what now---you just lost 200 dollars--are you gonna make bert send you the money????

To bad a few bad apples have to ruin it for the many good ones but when I was selling I only made maybe 10% after all the fees and if one in 10 ends up going south it is too high of a price to pay for the seller.
I had many a good international deal but the few bad ones cost me plenty.

There are problems with using forwarding services as well. As a seller you are only covered if you send the item to the verified address. The buyer states he has not received the item and boom they have their money back.
You have to show that the buyer got their item within a certain period of time and it was shipped to their verified address. At least I have heard of these stories here on the forum.

that is the purpose of tracking and signature confirmation--that is what post office relies on totally---anything anymore over 100 dollars or so and I am putting signature confirmation on the package---then there can be no bs from the buyer--they signed for the package and that is it FINAL..but yes make sure you ship to that address on the paypal payment.....seller protected against feebay buyer scam protection...it has got bad---I recently had a couple buyers say they did not get their package and want their money back---well it has been scanned delivered---im not giving money back and then they got knife---ha---believe it feebay stood by me because it had been scanned delivered.....what the heck happened to the honest people????--maybe I am just getting old huh?????

I used to work with a pos who told me he would get packages then carefully take the item out and reseal it then record himself opening an empty box to get his money back. Lot of scum bags out there.

2 more than I am done. I sold a couple items to a guy on the bay on a buy it now who said he was going to be out of town for a bit more than a week so please do not ship the item until the following week.
Once the tracking said that it was delivered he opened a dispute. They than said that I had to ship within 7 days otherwise they would not support me in a claim so them gave the buyer back his money in full.
Another time I had a listing for Buck 110's with several in stock. An international buyer messaged me that he wanted 50. I mentioned to him I did not have that many and would have to order them but I would
create a listing for him to do the purchase and pay. Once I received the additional 110's I promptly double packaged them and shipped them off. Tracking showed them leaving the US and than stopped.
A couple weeks later the buyer started a dispute and shortly after gave the buyer back every penny. A couple weeks after he was refunded the tracking than showed the package moving again and than delivered.
He would not respond and never gave me back my money so I lost over 1k on that one deal and the bay would not do anything about it. The package was stuck in customs for over a month.

Apparently, this must be a pretty common scam on the part of some people as I have heard of several other cases like this. Really makes you wonder about what the world is coming to.

In regard to many of the other posts, I always thought that ebay's new buyer protection was great because once the buyer paid the seller, the buyer had upheld his end of the transaction and should not be subject to negative feedback. I never conceived of buyer dishonesty. After reading about all the problems with dishonest buyers that you all have experienced, I now have changed my mind. Just don't know how to resolve the issue without allowing the seller to give the buyer negative feedback simply for retaliation of the buyer's negative feedback to the seller when the buyer had legitimate reasons for doing so.

That's the problem, no matter what happens the seller can't leave anything other than positive feedback...

I have had more unpaid buyers over the last 2 years than I used to. They only get shut down if they have a long history of not paying and the seller can't leave them negative feedback. A couple months ago a person won an item from me and kept telling me he would pay in a couple days. After 2 weeks I told him I would start a non paying buyer dispute and relish the item. He said to go ahead because he couldn't pay and had other bills that were more important. He than left me negative feedback saying I was impatient and hard to deal with. I reported him. It took a couple weeks but the negative did get removed.
