Non-animal based knife strop?

tony miller at the well shaved gentleman has a strop made from some kind of synthetic that replaces leather, might want to give him a look see. his strops are of the top quality, as well as pride in craftsmanship. I have a 3 inch #2 heirloom strop for my razors and I absolutely love it. I forget what the vegi syn is called but he makes them for vegans.

Synthetic leather is readily avaiable and works like a strop just as fine.
I saw some premade ones with synthetic too.

I took an 8 in slow speed grinder I picked up cheap and put two linen buffing wheels each charged with a different compound. With a couple of quick passes it produces a flawless edge every time.

I had a hanging strop with poly webbing material as the other side- basically a seat belt. I didn't like it as a hanging strop so I glued it to a piece of pine, and it works great! Kind of makes an odd sound when you use it, but it gives nice results.

I think i will try the balsa wood as well as the denim with a wood backing and see which of the two works best.
I have used the home depot paint sticks with leather glued to them and they worked great so ill probably attach the denim to a couple of those (i like to use a stack of two or three so its more rigid.)
what type of store carry balsa wood? home depot like stores? ive never shopped for it before so im unsure where i should start looking. any help will be appreciated

thank you for all your help, i just wish someone had some sort of brainwashing tool to get her to stop this whole vegan thing :-) Ive known her for years and at first when she decided to go full vegan instead of vegetarian i was hoping it would last, but after almost 4 years i think its here to stay. She is into guns and knives and leans more towards hobbies that are generally male, I would never guess that she was vegan if i had not known her for so long. but seriously i do respect her for how she sticks to her beliefs but it can just be really inconvenient sometimes, I am just glad she isnt like some vegans who try to make to feel bad for eating meat and are always trying to convert people, she only talks about it when she neads to (like at a restaurant when placing an order) or when someone asks her about it but other than that she never has issues with me eating meat in front of her, however i do try to be respectful and not order a large steak or ribs that i have to tare apart with my hands...i get the feeling that would be much worse than seeing me eat a taco or a cheeseburger....well i guess im done with my paragraph that doesnt add anything useful to this thread :o

For balsa (or basswood), look at hobby/craft shops. I found both at Hobby Lobby, if there's one near you.
