Non assisted Leek alternative

Maserin starlight 392?

Manual Front flipper, light weight, flat ground aus8.
Very similar profile to the leek, and just hair over your budget?

Bear & Son cowhand, I've heard mixed reviews about the company, but just as thin as a leek, a little thicker, a bit shorter, flat ground, made in USA, minimal belly just at the tip, pointy, 440a has similar properties to 14c28n.

Browning Black Label Turning Point,
3" like the leek, a bit more belly, a bit more handle, hollow ground but still thin and pointy, textured g10 and 440c.

If you're patient you can find good deals on the Kizer Splinter and from time to time they come up for sale on the exchange.

I know a lot of people put down CRKT, but I've heard good things about the Eros. A large Eros is basically a manual leek anyway...

^^^ That's a nice looking knife Hack!
They make a Titanium version but it's more expensive than the OP was looking for. I've been tempted by the Ti knife a few times but it's hard to spend >$100 on CRKT....

Understood brother!
The only one I have is a Swindle, only because of the low cost.
Not a CRKT fan.

Btw it's Maserin Starlight 392 not Martin.

I think you should look at the Kershaw Emerson Cqc7k or cqc4k or cqc4k xl. I have been extremely impressed by these Kershaw Emersons.

Thanks again for all of the suggestions. The large CRKT Eros looks pretty good!

I ended up going with a Kizer Sunburst. I found a good deal on a used one and figured I'd give it a try. I ground the slight recurve out of the blade, reprofiled it on my Wicked Edge and enlarged the sharpening choil. Now it's screaming sharp and exactly the right shape for my use. The action and build quality of this knife is superb especially for the money. I think it has the smoothest and most satisfying thumb flick opening of all my folders (including several $200 - $500 knives). Lockup is secure with zero play. The blade free drops when closing and centers almost perfectly. Not crazy about the pocket clip, but I can live with it.

The CRKT Vizzle or ZT 0450 are both slim like that, though slightly longer. Both are manual flippers.

Edited to add: I see you choose the Kizer. Looks good!

Thanks!
I already have the ZT 0450 (and love it) and there's no way I'm risking losing it considering the intended use. The CRKT looks a lot like the ZT. My new Kizer was cheap enough that if I lose the knife (like I did two weeks ago) I won't mind too much.

The standard Delica is better than any of those for your needs. But, there is the Spyderco Centofante 3 and 4. Won't find a more scalpel like one hand opening knife. You could try the Kershaw Zing. No assist that I know of. Unfortunately the tradeoff for being a pocket scalpel is a small or thin handle. The Urban Trapper is the perfect example of that. Only a few like the first three I mentioned fill the hand better without a thicker blade.

While I appreciate the suggestions, please notice that in post #29, I already purchased a Kizer Sunburst and it fits my needs perfectly.

The shape of the standard Delica blade is way too tall cutting edge to spine. Otherwise I agree that it's a good knife, but not better than what I ended up purchasing.

The Centofante 3 & 4 are discontinued and also too tall cutting edge to spine.

The Kershaw Zing is Speed Safe assisted and also too tall edge to spine.

I already purchased and returned an Urban Trapper because it was too thin and light in my big fat hands.
