Yeah, let's see those uber tacticool non metal ninja op's knives! lol

You know the ones, made from high density plastics and such. Undetectable by standard means (other than frisking obviously..) and dedicated to the elite masters of stealth, assassination and badassery.

Ahem.. let's see them if you got them! :D

How sharp can they get? and do the high end carbon ones get a better edge..?

Just an advisory thought, leave the discussion on the knives themselves. Any talk of carrying these things where they are clearly illegal will cause the thread to be blown up.

Now that is very cool! I wonder how strong a glass knife would be?

Not terribly strong. I did some experiments with glass and stone knives, with the help of a knifemaker who was interested about flint knapping. We copied stone tools from an etnographic museum (I'm an anthropologist and worked there), and even used them hunting (we made a few arrow heads as well). They worked well for shallow cuts and soft materials, but not so well on wood and stuff like that.

I admit I own a few.

Don't do pics on here as its beyond my abilitys.

But one is a Blackie Collins assisted folder !.

I don't carry them, but I did at one time for reasons y'all can ponder.

The edge retention on a CF knife isn't very good. I would consider them thrusting tools more than anything.

Got my first non metal knife in the mail today!

It cost the same as a good loaf of bread (from the land of oriental plastic..) and although rather small it's really really cool. :D

The tip is nice and stabby and will be good at 'opening letters'. As that's what it's sold as, a tactical, survival serrated letter opener.

Can imagine being able to cut more than butter with it, but it is neat.

I'd like to to make some from antler, bone, glass, flint and ceramic! anyone else done this?

A high tech one with a cf body and a ceramic edge pretty damn sick. It'd be sharp too.

I once carved a brick of cheese into a knife. I called it the nomnomzaan. Then proceded to eat it.

In a trilogy I read recently, one of the main characters starts out carrying glass knives, then switches to obsidian. I wonder how obsidian would hold up.

In Star Trek TNG, Klingon's use glass knives for assassination, breaking the handle off, leaving the blade in the victim.

When I was 13 I had a rubber throwing star. Didn't sharpen too well.

I have the cold steel jungle dart & the boot blade; the only reason I got them was they were dirt cheap at the time... :foot::rolleyes:;)
