I use a GSI but I'd like to try a kuksa some time.

I`ve been using folding cups for years, and they have always served me very well. In Norway we call them "Snylte-kopp", wichs roughly translated meens something like: "Hobo-cup" or maybe a better translation: "Freeloader-cup". Here`s an english website that sell the cups I`m talking about.http://http://www.dentakit.com/foldingcup.html

Blais beat me to it, but a kuksa would be a great addition to anyone's kit.

River, the squishy cup is tough to hang on to and drink from. I have a set. Those kuksas are cool but where to find in USA?

I made a mug out of an empty "Countrytime" lemonade jar. I cut off the concave portion above the thread to make it easier to drink from, and made a paracord loop that is secured with duct tape around the jar. It also doubles as a bowl (both the jar and the lid can do this). Sorry, no personal pics, but I found the idea on the web.

Rubbermaid has, or had some nice insulated travel mugs with a non skid bottom and a removable lid.

i have one for work, since some employers frown on open cups around computers and two in the camp kitchen box.

they're not small or light, and Wallyworld used to carry them, but i haven't seen them there recently.

available in some colors.

any truckstop should have travel mugs with large bases, or the ones with the skinny base to fit in cupholders. any thrift store usually has some too.

but none of these are especially light or packable.

How about one of these, folds up to half the size, and you can carry it in the cargo pocket of your pants without a problem. In Norway we call this a "Snylte-kopp" I don`t really know what it translates to, but try searching for folding-cup

Cheaper Than Dirt used to have these listed as "Swedish Heavy Drinking Cups"

with the Swedes i know, even a dixie cup would be a "heavy drinking cup"

I have a Stanley double mug in poly,,
It has a good top, insulates okay
And I use the outer as a bowl when I need to
Finally found a good travel mug
Glad you mentioned that. I have one, and have only used it at work. We both somehow forgot our Lexan cups last week, and had to eat and drink from the stainless mugs we normally just boil water in. The outer would have come in handy as an extra bowl, too. Well, I guess it's a moot point since the cups were forgotten to begin with, but I know I'll be checking to see if my stove will fit in there.

Get the kuksa at Kellam, good selection. Ragnar used to carry wooden cups. I got one before he ran out.

Just like you did when drinking from the metal canteen cup in the service. That way you don't have to get rid of a great piece of kit.
