Non-skid coating on blades ?

Has anyone ever used non-skid coating on their custom made blades ? I recently cut out some nice blades from a 24" wood saw blade. Nice steel. Made a double ended thrower and a Predator Survival Knife/ Throwing Hatchet. I want to put a black finish on my knives, but am not sure what to try. Any experiences with this stuff ? I tried something called Rust Reformer and it was OK. But not as thick as I would have liked. Any ideas ? Thanks.

I know more about guns than knives, but I've heard of people using black engine paint to finish their ak builds as an alternative to parkerizing. That might be a good route. Some of the guys who have done it on their aks swear by it so its probably worth a try just to test it out.
