Non-snagging lanyard loop tutorial

Rokjok,

This was a great tutorial. I like simple ideas like this one.

I had been worried that my Moras would get snagged and donated to the bush gremlins eventually. Some friends just donated a pair of SWAK's to my kit pile so I need to pick up some more of those toggles. Mac

I'm surprised more people don't use the lashings as shown in these photos.

I don't like the greenish thread used for the seize, but an excellent material for seizing would be the ultra strong black Spectra or Dyneema in this roll of DynaFlight (something that's worth owning for its own sake, BTW).

I know this is kinda an old thread, but a good one, for sure!

I've been putting this sort of lanyard on my fixed blades since I read it. Got on on my Ratweiler in "camo" 550 paracord with a ball cord-lock slider for extra security; on my main woods knife, a BRK&T Fox River, I'm using reflective 1/8" cord and a large plastic bead for he slider. Gets a lot of compliments, and works damn well!

Awesome Rokjok - wish I would have spotted this one when I joined up two years ago ;)

Great, simple idea - those are the best kind. Thanks for bumping this one for us (relatively) newbs!

Is it just me but I cannot see the pictures today? I've saved this thread to my favorites and the pictures were working right

Thanks for the annual bump. With all the time I spend here, I can't believe I've never seen this before.

Those washers are a great idea. I have been doing this type of lanyard for quite sometime now, but I just use another piece of 550 cord and tie it really tight around the other two ends(in place of the washer) and burn the ends so it doesn't loosen up.

that's what I do as well

This is a great idea. I'll implement it on my knives. Just like Scott, I can't believe I did not see this before.

Nice bump, RokJok. I'll be using this one. Don't forget to bump it next year for the new guys.

Chris.

I've used my belt knives like this since I first saw this threads years back. Have to get the length just right for each particular blade but once dialed in, it creates a very secure grip which helps in when everything is wet and it's winter cold. This is always a great thread to "bump".

Thanks for the bump RokJok,I'll be using this method for now on,it sure makes sense.
+1 for the cord wrapped around for the same purpose as the rubber washer, low profile & less chance of it snagging too.
Thanks guys!

I applied it on some of my knives. I used a sliding plastic pinch-toggle, and it turns out it not only is non-snagging, it is also adjustable. I cut the cord longer so the final position is better suited for chopping, and I can adjust it for normal use.
