I have the BM 710HSSR with the M2 Tool Steel blade, how often do I have to oil it and with what, to prevent it from corroding, or do I even have to worry about it?

I wouldn't worry about it unless you notice rusting on the exposed edge. M2 is not stainless by any stretch, but it does have some inherent rust resistance compared to plain carbon steels.

Get a silicone rag, and wipe it down after you use it.

Sentry Solutions makes a good one, in their marine tuf cloth. And AG Russel has a small bottle of pure silicone you can apply with a cutip, or with a larger cloth if desired.

There are also cheap silicone gun rags, available at Wally world, etc.

The main thing is to never put your knife away damp, or wet (allow to dry thoroughly). And if you're going to store it outdoors it needs to be treated with the above regularly.

Minor staining and rust can be removed with mineral spirits, or Hoppes/M-pro 7 gun cleaner.

Another vote for Tuf-Cloth. However, Marine Tuf-Cloth does leave a little greasy residue. Or you can do what I do, buy a bottle of Tuf-Glide and you can apply to your knife with a small piece of clean rag from time to time. Has kept my 710Hs pristine for more than 1 year and where I live, humidity is regularly 90+%.

the Rust-Free from AG Russell works awsome. I generally just smear a little bit over the blade once in a while with my finger.

i have a becker bk7 utility knife that rusted up on me after my last camping trip. not the whole blade, just the honed edge. the rest of the blade is coated, rather good i'd say, because it is still in awesome shape and i chopped the crap out of wood with it while camping...

anyway, in my situation, all i need to do is sharpen the blade up (to get the rusty metal off the edge, then coat it with militec-1 or hoppe's gun oil, then slide is back in the sheath (which is lined with plactic casing) and store inside a closet away from moisture.

hope this helps, and good luck!
