Non traditional problem for a collector of traditional knives

I note a good thing on this thread, not one has responded that they have to hide the knives they purchase from their wives. Could it be that the traditional form is made up of folks who share with their partners without knives being a war zone?

What I am saying is congratulations gentlemen, life is much better when we can share with the women in our lives.

Heck, Ed, I even bring my wife with me to the Blade Show (as you know)! :p:cool:

She's not particularly interested in all of the knives and patterns but appreciates the beauty nonetheless and enjoys the friendships we are fortunate to share with both makers and collectors alike.

That's a good point. I would also add, at last personally, that my Wife says she can understand the interest in a traditional knife. She'll see a new one & actually complement it. She says she can see why all the interest & admiration in a slip-joint in comparison to a modern folder. I have to agree.

"Good story Roland."
Thanks Frids. Perhaps it shows that the female tendancy to claim family objects they like as their own, to be inborn rather than acquired.
A little boy would certainly be interested in my knives, but would he feel free to just lay claim to some ?
maybe another dad out there can answer that. my "little boy" is now 31 and i wasn't actively collecting when he was little.

My wife isnt really an admirer but does carry a Pearl handled Buck Tiny Toothpick in her purse. Funny thing is I dont think she ever uses it but she had to assume posession as soon as she saw it.:D

No wife, just four daughters...

The expession is "Oh Daddy!"

This means they want the knife I am showing them.
They all have different tastes reflecting who they are.
They all have about 6 knives and they seem to have reached saturation for thier collections
