Nonthreatening looking EDC

I am a 70 year old attorney. Still working full time in the NY-NJ Metro area. At work I’m almost always in a black, blue or gray suit, albeit not always a tie. I’m in good shape , professional in my demeanor and “ clean cut “ as required for a litigator. Yet, I am a bit of ( low profile ) “ prepper lite”. Comes from my background as a volunteer EMT , in a busy urban squad, when I was younger. So, where legal, I always carry a LM XE-6 among my EDC gear.

More vanilla you couldn’t get, right? Not so! Every time I take out my mini LM to pull a staple, cut open packing tape or perform some other mundane task, I get the weirdest, often unapproving look, from many bystanders, followed by questions of why I would carry such a “ knife”? I try to patiently explain that it is a tool, not a “ knife” and explain how useful it can prove.

Politically, I am a “ Progressive” and I hate the term “ snowflake,” etc.. But, when I was growing up ,in this same region, almost every teen boy and grown man had a small , usually slip joint, pen knife or Swiss Army Knife. We even took them to school without objection. I still don’t understand how that went out of fashion or became to be seen as weird or threatening???

The Sage series is superb, I have a 2 and 5; very much like both. The Sage 2 gets carried much more. An Alox SAK is always a good choice - I’d recommend one of those to everybody, regardless of if it becomes an EDC.

skyhorse skyhorse , Nice set up. I mix up carrying the Classic, or LB1 on my key ring just out of pure usefulness (an old pic).

A peanut might work for being around those that are fearful of seeing a pocket knife as a weapon?

My highest recommended knife is a Spyderco Native. My least assuming wonderful edc knife is a small Sebenza.
