noob question about sharpening

i am a noob when it comes to sharpening knives so pardon my ignorance. i just wanted to know if the sharpening device i had would be adequate to sharpen up my vg10 spydercos.

my friend gave me one of those no brand tiny sharpeners that look like a small bar of stone in the toblerone chocolate triangle shape. will this no brand sharpening device mess up my knives or do you guys think it will be ok?

I used one of those small triangular-shaped sharpeners for quite a while before I moved on to a Sharpmaker. While it doesn't give you much working room, it is more than sufficient to put a sharp edge on both PE and SE knives. Give it a try.
