(noob question)knife recomendation

Current USA made blackjacks are made by bark river knives also worth a look at that being said swamprats and scrapyard knives (all busse kin) would be my 1st choice and I own several of each but I would recommend saving up more. Ash or if you got the money get a busse tglb(team gemini light brigade ) I have 1 and it's the perfect jack of all trades well with the money

I was SOO close to pulling the trigger on a TGLB, but their order page was down, I tried calling like four times an no one picked up. this was right before the time of their price hike around a year ago, so it really turned me away from Busse. maby Ill give them a chance again one day...

I think the Becker suggestion is a good one. The Campanion's blade is 5.5" in length X .25" thick, so if the SHTF, you ain't going to break this blade. Add a set of the micarta grips that are available, and you have one heck of a good knife to work with!:)

A2 is a decent compromise between a stainless and a carbon blade. The Backjack classic 125 is made of A2, and is one of my favorite most comfortable knives in my collection.

Beautiful knife, Bmurray! I have a few of those myself:

But I would still recommend to a newbie that he start with something a little less expensive (in case he jacks it up!), perhaps a KA-BAR Fighting/Utility:

I have the esee 6, beautiful blade. I do lots of camping and hunting, in rain and snow. There will be rust on the etching and edge if not properly maintained. The oil rag idea is awesome. I usually carry some gun oil with me anyways and blade maintemance is key with any blade. (Sharpening and oiling is half the fun anyways)

That being said...I want a fallkniven A2 sooooo bad!
