If it makes you feel any better, Perry will come to either myself of Joe Dorsky (or both) for an opinion if he's not sure about an old Randall. You can confirm this by contacting him at perry@spaceportcutlery.com

Bottom line is you know what you have and when it was made within a year of manufacture and it cost you nothing to find this out.

Absolutely, and I thank all for the info. Right now, this knife will be earmarked for my grandson (now just 4) when he grows up and hopefully he will value great workmanship like I do (I'm teaching him cheap vs inexpensive, well made vs shoddly but looks good, you get what you pay for, etc.)
 
I love it when a plan comes together :D I have two young grandsons and each will be getting an old Randall when they're old enough to appreciate them.
