Me and a couple of friends have been camping a couple times out in the woods a couple miles from where we park the car and we always have to carry a lot of stuff with us. My question is what are some things I can find in the area to use instead of carrying extra stuff or so we have extra. I live inside the triangle and camp by Holly Springs.

Well that depends on how close you get to Shearon Harris. Might find some mutant plants to eat.

Saw your location, I am in Cary.

plenty of wood out there, potable water is an issue but it can be purified, good luck finding it with this drought. Fish can be caught in any lake, pond or larger stream. There are a couple web sites out there that sell dehydrated water so that might lighten your load.

There's plenty of small game ,catfish, and snakes to eat if you don't want to pack a lot of food and you don't mind trapping/fishing/ not eating if nothing turns up. NC has the most lighter knot laying around of anywhere I've ever been and plenty of scrub oak and dead pine trees so making a fire and keeping it going is really easy.
