North Mountain Blade - Terzuola Design M30A1

Although I am not a big fan of Chinese made knives, some are good and I am a huge fan of Bob Terzuola's fixed blade knives, so I had to pick up one of these. It seems to be very well made. It comes with two sheaths (Kydex and Leather) and the san mai blade is very cool looking with a very keen edge in Hitachi's forged SLD-Magic Steel. It has a flamed Ti Terzuola Dragon emblem on the G-10 handle.

looks good. hard not to love a good Terzuola design no matter who its made by.

ive got a few of this brands titanium handled folders and they are pretty impressive for the price points.

BTW thats an awesome collection of them.

Thanks for the heads up about this, as I've always loved Bob's designs and the M30A1 is a particular favorite. The North Mountain model definitely is a beautiful tribute, and it looks to be very well made. I'm a bit surprised by the asking price, given the source. But, then again, everything's expensive these days.

I'd really love to see an American manufacturer pick up this model and put out a version equal to the North Mountain offering in construction details and quality. Camillus and Meyerco made some decent attempts long ago, but they weren't as nice or as well-made as the Gryphons. Buck, TOPS, Ka-Bar, don't you guys want to re-make a nice classic like the M30A1?!

id even be okay with coldsteel/sog/gsm having a Taiwan made version at better price point.

When judging the price, I think you have to consider that most of the Terzuola made knives are creeping up into the $2K range and Bob T rarely makes any fixed blades any more. Even the Gryphon M30A1 is well over $250 used when you can find one. They have not been made in many years. Then this North Mountain knife has two very nice sheaths and is a fair bit nicer than the Gryhon with a new steel that is supposed to be very capable. It is also a limited edition, I can not find out how many of each of the three colors have been made but the wholesaler that I bought from is out of all three. After eyeballing this one; if they had more I would probably buy 1 or 2 more. There are a few retail places that have them at $320 and up, which I think is a fair price, but I am a big fan of this design, so a little biased. This company also has a few other designs that I am considering buying. IMO, thi knife is better made than any of the fixed blades from Cold Steel and right up with the old SOG Tridents and has better steel than any of them. At the same retail as the SOG Super bowie in AUS-8 this is a better knife with better steel, ergonomics, and sheaths. It is also quite a bit less expensive than most of the Taiwan Made, top end Cold Steel fixed blade knives. As always YMMV.
