This was the post I've been waiting for :) I'm definitely in again this year.

Let me know if you need help with anything Trailbum.

If anyone thought about going last year and didn't you missed a great time. Show up this year and have fun in an awesome location!

Glad you two can make it.

Oooh, nice. Imma try to make it.

I hope you can.

WORKAHOLIC.

????????

Imma try to make it, too.

Please do.

Where I go, mead goes. I couldn't make the gathering last year, but I sent a bottle down with Dresnor and Copperhead88....

Wouldn't mind working more on land navigation. I can show some more traps if you want. Wild edibles maybe?

Maybe we can make a debris shelter? Bush bow and arrow contest?

I'll second all that - I've just learned the fruits on our Japanese dogwood are edible - and reasonably tasty, too.

Do you have anything you want to teach?

Jeremy
Probably not much I could teach, I'm mostly a complete noob at the bushcraft stuff. I'll bring paracord, I've been making a lot of knife leashes/lanyards and have learned some knotwork for that as well as some less common survival bracelet styles.
I have a bow, if anyone else would like to shoot, but it's far from the primitive (read: it's a compound) type. I think the primitive bow idea sounds great, tho. I can also bring my hand wood carving tools - and a lot of sugar maple if anyone wants to try making wooden bowls or utensils, but I only know how in theory.
I'm mostly hoping to get my girls outside for the weekend and learning, same goes for me. Done a lot of backpacking/camping pre-kids (and pre Beckers), but it's been some time since then, and we all need to spend more time outside. I've been a swim coach and a bicycle mechanic, but I don't believe those are particularly useful survival skills - or usually involve knives.
I can cook, and am happy to do so - I'm bringing food for (at least) my oldest who has food allergies. I'm also planning on bringing a few loaves of banana bread for sharing. Long answer, but this will be a new experience for us, so mostly I'm gonna try not to step on any toes.

Jeremy,

I proposed to Jason we modify last years fire contest to be a "one-stick" fire, with the use of any knives you like as long as they are Beckers :)

I'm still trying to think up some other contests.

Looking forward to October!

EDIT:

As a variant on last years Land-Nav course, if we have enough people break up into teams and do a land-nav competition. Reach x spot on the map, find directions to the next spot, etc..

Sounds ok to me. I am not super concerned with doing contests. I want to pass on some stuff I know and learn something myself.

I can't wait for the BSing around the fire though.

Jeremy

I like all the ideas so far.
I can't wait to just hang out and shoot the breeze.
I will have to read up on land nav .

I'm going to read up on wild edibles - I know a few already, so maybe I'll just do the research and see if I can distill it.
