Looking to get in touch (in the real world) with local makers and see their shops and just get a general idea of what it's like.

I have built a forge and made 2 "knives" so far... nothing I'm willing to post pics of...

Just looking for some guidance and to see a "real" shop. I'm willing to work for the privilege. Anything from cleaning up for you to mowing your lawn to chopping/stacking wood... pretty much anything.

Current car situation puts me without transportation until about the 2nd week of August, but anytime after that I'd love to get some advice "in person" at the cost of some manual labor.

Is Statesboro GA to far north for you. I don't know very many of the guys in south GA that well but I may be able to ask some friends who do.
also check out the Georgia custom knife makers guild for any guys close to you.

Joe Sangster is in Vienna. He doesn't forge, but he can give you some good tips overall. Check out his website and shoot him an email, he may be able to help or at least he may know someone a little closer to you.

Brony,

Statesboro isn't too far for a weekend trip. I'd love to come up there on a Saturday sometime in August or September if I wouldn't be intruding...

Hog,

Check out the Florida Knifemakers Association. Several guys in your area. Annual show comming up October4-5 in Lakeland.

Hell, I'm about 90 miles away from you in Live Oak. Your welcome to stop by the shop and forge out a blade.

There are a bunch of guys who would love to help in the GA Custom Knifemakers Guild. We have two meetings a year in South GA usually. The winter meeting in late Jan or early Feb is usually held at the Twin Blades shop in Statesboro. Its a good one. Then there is a meeting at Vianna GA hosted by Joe Sangster in the springtime.
