Ok all you guys up here in the north part of the state, who's interested in continueing our Hammer-In that was so great last year? We had six guys come up to my place in the mountains and beat on steel and make some damascus. I think my piece of the billet was around 4"X 1 1/2"X 1/2" when it was divied up. Now where did that go? Let's hear who's interested. Weather is just getting great.

Whats the Hammer-in consist of. I am a novice that is very interested in knifemaking. Am i not experianced enough? What will we be doing. What will i need to bring? Is there a cost.

This all might sound dumb but again im new at this and have very general questions. Thank you

A hammer in in is when you get together as a group and forge out some blades. Kind of like a hands on seminar. It is a fantastic opportunity to learn and you should go if you possibly can make it.

What TecSec said. :D If you are a novice all you need is a good pair of comfortable gloves and eye protection. If you have your own hammer that would be a good idea. Last year we had 2 forges and anvils going and a small press and we had a great time. Bring some knives to show.

Last year I was the Host, but if someone else would like to Host it this year, speak up. We have lots of room up here and no neighbors to complain. Our place is about an hour from Sacramento/Reno on interstate I-80.

This post is just to find out who is interested.

That sounds awsome, But i doubt ill be able to make it. I am camping for a week starting June 23 and after that im leaving to go to Sweden for a month leaving July 3. No need to plan around me im not going to be bringing much to the table id just like to watch and learn. Glad to see us Northern California guys getting together. Well see how it plays out.

One bump to see if there is interest or not. Would be a shame if we northern caif guys couldn't get something going.

I would be interested again this year. It was fun last year. I can bring forge, anvil, hammers, etc.

I might be crazy enough to drive down from boise idaho for that. I have to see how many hours of driving that would be but I could bring a swage, anvil and a bunch of hammers.
