Northern Knives (Anchorage, Alaska)

I haven't seen a whole lot said about these guys, but I found some knives on their website that I liked and decided to give em a shot. I think I ordered 6 knives, but it turned out that only 2 were in stock :( I did however receive an apologetic phone call within a couple hours of placing my order. Somehow the websites inventory had gotten screwed up, but anyway, I was given an option of a full refund, partial refund, or choose some different knives. After they got the inventory straightened out I went back and found one more I like, so I opted for a partial refund with 1 alternate knife. After that, everything was smooth sailing, they even threw in a few novelty freebies.

Their prices do seem to be all over the map though...great deals on some things, and way outta the ball park on others.

All in all, I was very satisfied with my purchase from them.

It's a great knife shop! They are very knowledgable and great to deal with, along with having an amazing selection of all kinds. My wife ordered one of my birthday presents from them and then found it for a cheaper price and showed it to them when she went to pick it up and they matched the price. Hard to beat that for service! Great knife shop all around and if you come to Anchorage you have to stop in. (Along with The Great Alaska Bush Company)

I've been doing business with them since about 2000. Back when Ray and Ryan owned Northern Knives is when I did the most business with them. I have always like the fact the they will buy your knives, trade with you and they have a lay away plan. I have used all three services with them. The current owners Mike and Lori are good to work with as well. I have never had any major issues with them as they have always taken care of me. The only drawback to them right now is the guy that is making the kydex sheaths for them is not that good as compared to what Ray used to make for me. Hopefully that will all change in time. They even have their own line of knives. I have two of their M.A.K.'s (multiple animal knife), one in N690 and the other in Elmax. My Elmax M.A.K. is a thinner version of what they normally make with yellow G-10 handles. They didn't even charge me extra for the yellow G-10 as they had to order it in for me even after I told them I would cover the cost because they don't offer that color as an option. Overall I think they are really good people to deal and I will continue to support them.
