Tommorrow I head for the Cold Weather Leaders course. (CWLC). The packing list says to bring a Pocket knife which I am. Im bringing a Case Copperlock lock with a Orange G-10 handle and a BRKT edge. BUT Encase they let me Im talking my Charles May necker. Dont really want to have to take my gloves off to get to my knife and use it. With the necker I can grab and pull.

Talk to you when I get back

Don't tell them about your necker. Just conceal it under your outer layer. "Never volunteer", right? :D If you ask them, of course they're going to tell you not to bring it. That necker might just save your butt.

Bring a lot of fresh wollen socks and snacksbars thats the most important thing i picket up from the winter in the swedish army.

Yeah and eat everything you can get your hands on, eat and drink and take care of your feet, and youll be fine.

Can speak for the "original" Northern Warefare training course, but I went through the one run by the WA Army National Guard back in the late '80's at Huckleberry Creek, Mt. Rainer (when it was a National Guard training area). Sure was cold, but it was great training. Enjoy and let us know how it went,

It's nice to be home Caine...my wife and I are taking the Carry Concealed class on Saturday...it'll be 80 degrees down here in Texas that day:D

Some folders are easier to open with mitts/gloves on than others. I find, for example, that a Manix is quite easy to open without exposing fingers to the cold -- large surface to grip and little spring to overcome.
