I just happened across these at Cumberland. Anybody have one? They look awesome.

A photo from Cumberland - I hope it is ok to post this. I'm a sucker for Barlows.

Sorry about the size. I resized in photobucket but it didn't take here... nevermind it took

I got mine Monday, in Stag.

Fit and finish are awesome, nice tight action, half stops and wicked sharp. Smaller than I had anticipated, but a great size that competes with my EDC Peanut for Pocket space.

The smaller blade was at first really tight...almost dangerously so, but has worked itself into a good action.

A Great Knife, and my first GEC...I will definitely be on the lookout for more.

These GEC threads are killing me! I'm hoping to get one of the clip point/long pull #25 Barlows from Santa . . .

I also have become infatuated with the #23 Pioneers, even though they are too huge to be practical for me.

That's why they have #73 Scouts!

Their Barlows look awesome, and I'm not generally a Barlow lover. I must have one (sheepsfoot w/ end caps....mmmmmm)

That is a very nice looking knife. Just when I think I am at the point where the only factory knives I want are old and used some one has the nerve :D to post something like this. ;).

Thank you!

Even though, it is going to be all I can do not to order one over the weekend.

I wasn't either, then I bought a Booker Celluloid Tortoise Barlow. It is my #1 EDC. I love how they fit and ride in my pocket but still provide a good stout blade along with a little utility blade.

That's the thing about traditionals, there are some many styles - enough for everybody.

C'mon, Bastid. You know you wanna do it. It'll make you feeeel good! :D
You won't get hooked, I promise!

The barlows are nice- I have 3 of them now- the tan sawcut bone, the stag barlow jack, and the patriot acrylic barlow jack. The patriot acrylic is my favorite, I think, because it has the sheepfoot blade that lets you open it by pinching the blade. The other 2 knives are beautifully made, and lovely, but they're literally thumbnail busters. My poor thumbnail is begging for mercy from the abuse the GEC barlows have given it.

Another GEC showed up at my door this morning, a stag muskrat, and it's very nice. The stag on the shield side wasn't burnt enough for my taste, but that's nothing I can't fix. I need to give her a little TLC, but I think she'll work just fine. I like the pattern very much- the blades lie very flat, and the thumbnicks are relieved on both sides- sort of like halfway easy-opens. This makes the overall package very smooth- it is much more of a cigar shape than the stockman.

I have one of the #25 drop point rather than wharny. The bolster looks a little different. I want the wharny too!

Just received this one last Wednesday, and after a thorough inspection I immediately dropped her in my pocket to use. I have now put up my Stockman in favor of this little gem on a permanent basis. I typically carry a Trapper on my belt in a sheath and a Stockman in my pocket. But this little Barlow has taken over my pocket completely. Great Eastern Cutlery has come a long way since their first offerings, and that is a fact. Any company that uses turn of the 19th/20th century equipment and trained their cutlers right to use same to produce fine traditional cutlery in short runs like this in 1095 hi-carbon steel, made right here in America has my vote.

I just talked to Bill yesterday and ordered the entire #25 set of four with the Wharncliffe master blades.

Thought I would just post a photo of the Stag Wharny #25 that Bill just sent to me.. :)

Sunnyd,

I think it's terrible that you have abandoned your old edc. I think you should immediately send me that #25 Barlow so that it is out of your way and you can renew your relationship with your trusty stockman.;)

Great picture - that's the one I'm hoping to get (Buffalo).

 I know!. All my Stockman's are crying and screaming so dawg-on loud, none of my slippy's can get any rest at all!. :p :D

This one, according to GEC's certificate is actually called "Red Buffalo Horn". Now, I don't see any real red coloring unless'n you go out in the sunshine and turn the knife certain ways, then you sorta get a burgundy tint comming through.

I have got an email sent to the gal who hand signed the certificate, Christine Tucker.. So I will let you know what is what a little later when she contacts me regarding my inquiries.. Let me tell you though, these knives are somthing special and far above and away, the normal quality of USA production models. I have got to hand it to Bill and Ken for starting this outfit to begin with!

I just ordered a stag handled #25 Wharncliff from Cumberland. I can't wait till it gets here.

Hey Moon, what are you trying to do, corner the market? Save a few for the rest of us, won't ya? :D

You figured out my dastardly plot! If I had the means, yes, I would buy up every single GEC I could get my hands on. I would make a castle out of the shipping tubes, and crown myself king! Muhahaha! All your GEC are belong to me! :D I would let you guys come and visit them, though. I am not a monster.

No GECs coming today. :( Just a stag Case swayback trapper. ;) It's going to make a bid for watch pocket space- going against the GEC #25s.
