Northfield #25 Barlow w/ Wharncliff

No doubt,Knives like these keep a nut confused as to what to carry, custom or production.

I like the green bone Barlow so well, I guess it won't be long until I get a stag Barlow.

Can you get a sheepsfoot blade in the stag barlow? Trying to decide on the blade combo...

Thats the one I want too. Been carrying the red bone sheepsfoot pattern and love it.

Mine came in the mail yesterday. Great fit & finish, stag is excellent, the pen blade is a bit hard to pull out, but not quite a nail breaker. My only real complaint is that it is one of the dullest knives I have ever bought out of the box. It took much more than a touch-up on the sharpmaker to get it shaving sharp. Not that big of a deal though, now it's a dandy! This little barlow will see much pocket time. :D

314, I have the 2 bottom knives in your pix. I really like them stout little buggers...

Thought I would just post a photo of the Stag Wharny #25 that Bill just sent to me.. :)

Nice, had to order one too :) thanks for the push,

edited to add that I like that they put the nail nic's on the same side, nice ;)

hey Gary, thanks for pulling this up....I really need to fall in love with another knife now, like I need a hole in the head! I gotta learn to not keep looking in threads like this:D

Perhaps the nut doesn't fall that far from the tree. The owners came from Queen. My #73s came hair scraping sharp, but the scare the hair off now.

Sorry man, you know how karma is, it's like destiny or something ;)
it should be a great little pocket rascal for sure!

One of the reasons I quit, a LONG time ago, of buying the blade magazines is
they tend to make you WANT stuff too much, advertising at it's best!
But here comes BladeForums and wham, a bit worse, but, also a good thing too :)

I had a frontier bone GEC Wharncliffe Barlow, which was an exclusive with Cumberland. I really like it, but the small Clip blade's spring was way too stiff. Great looking knife, though.

Does anyone have a pic showing the thickness? I like the size, but I think I recall pic showing that they are unusually thick:confused:

SunnyD - What equipment are they using that dates to ca 1900, and where did it come from? The pictures on the website show equipment that is obviously old, but certainly more modern than ca 1900 vintage.

It took me hours with oil in the joint and paper wrapped round the blade, working it back and forward till I had loosen that blade enough to be able to open it!!!!!

I would rather sharpen a Queen in D2!!!

With luck I'll have mine tomorrow and will post up some pics at that time.
Fingers and about everything else I have are crossed, except my eyes,
never could do that one ;)
