Northfield Scout

Christian, I have a lanyard on my #23 and I love it.
It's adds that extra little something, I can't imagine what you'll go through in the next couple of months though.

I'd have it in my pocket right now.

Christian, now that is GREAT stag! IMO we get to see a lot of not-so-exciting-stag these days but yours is really beautiful.
Something to look forward to ;)

Super nice! The threaded bolsters look especially good against that beautiful stag. Congrats!

When she first bought the Scout I was told that it was going to be my birthday present this year. As such it wasn't going to be mine until Thanksgiving. This morning she informed me that she was just joking and this knife is going to be my Father's Day present. Apparently she enjoyed watching me fidget like a kid on Christmas Eve. Like I said, C-R-U-E-L. :D

Oh well. A month is a long wait, but it's much more tolerable than six. Just 34 more days!

That´s cruelty... ;) I know this from my own #66 Bullwinkle Moose, though I didn´t know what she wanted to give me....

Just to tell me, your Fathers Day is in 34 days! Here in Germany it´s this thursday on May 17th, so in three days. Strange world...

Kind regards
Andi

I wish it was on May 17th. Alas, Father's Day is on June 17th this year. Here in America we celebrate both Father's and Mother's Day on Sunday. Father's Day is in June and we just celebrated Mother's Day yesterday.

Alright, these are the differences... We celebrated Mothers Day yesterday (Sunday the 13th of May) as well as you did. But this thursday is a typical catholic day "Christi Himmelfahrt" it´s called something like "Jesus Christ Heavenraise" (or something like that), maybe another catholic user can post the correct term here in this thread, though it´s OT.

Kind regards
Andi

Tell your wife, "Hey, I have an idea! Let's start following some German customs!"

Get the ball rolling, then tell her when Father's Day is under the new cultural understanding. :-)

I'm glad that you guys like the stag. Inexpensive beaters have their place, but given a choice I'll take the pretty knife everytime. I'm a knifenut. I already have enough to last a lifetime. Any I get from here on out is pure luxury. So I'm going to get what I like because need really isn't a consideration.

Andi..

Your translation was pretty much right on...Feast of the Ascension (ascension - means to rise)

You might find it strange, but I don't often get knives for present. I have a few on my wish list of course (who doesn't), but they are more of the "nice to have" variety than anything I really want. I'm at the point now where I am largely content with the knives I already own.
